If Mattis had any issues, it wasn't the order itself, it was getting involved to settle any minor glitches that may relate to his area.
When the make a statement, then a few lines later, encapsulate the word "alleged" for the same statement, you know they are purposely trying to misinform folks.
We will have a more serene next four / eight years if we ignore anonymously-sourced anti-Trump articles. We have absolutely zero reason to believe this article. BTW, we mostly pulled out of Iraq years ago so what have these endangered interpreters being doing since then?
When the author references CNN and NYTimes as the primary sources, I doubt that this article is well-grounded in reality.

You as an Italian Catholic and me as an Irish Catholic our families can really turn it out.
My Mom and Dad turned out 6 who then turned out 14 who then turn out 10 more, and they are just getting started. So I ask again, Who needs immigration? When I was a kid, it was us that did all those jobs that people hire illegals to do. Yes, when I was a kid, jobs were a dime a dozen. Let’s see, jobs I’ve done as a kid that are now all done by illegals, cut grass, rake leaves, shovel, clean out roof gutters and street gutters, wash dishes, bus tables. I’ve done every single job that today sadly no American kid either doesn’t want to do or has been bumped out by illegals.
Another funny thing is this. And it wasn’t made to have my brother lose a customer, well not really a customer because my mom doesn’t pay my brother, but here goes...
My brother does his own landscaping thing up north there and said to me once, (well here’s some back story 1st, my dad said to me, you are big enough so these jobs are all yours now, taking out the trash, the yard, the painting mom needed) Well, when my younger brother, the landscaper got big enough, I said, yo, bro you big enough now, these are your jobs, then off to the military, voluntarily I went. One day recently, now 40+ years later, last year actually my brother said, “yo dude you gave me this job and I’m still doing it.”
It came up because last year it snowed and a neighborhood kid knocked on her door and asked to shovel. She said, “Nah. my son’s coming over (my 60 yr old landscaping brother) Believe it or not, he was swomped with commercial accounts and gonna be real real late getting to mom’s house.
It was the first time in over a decade that a kid knocked on my mom’s door to shovel, I said, “Mom you should have hired him.”

If this list of worthies had been “consulted”, any guess as to how long it would be before this action sprung a leak? And how long after that - that the media could get their ground troops rolled out and into the lights?
