Scientists have confirmed a brand new form of matter: time crystals
Science Alert ^ | 28 JAN 2017 | FIONA MACDONALD

Posted on 01/29/2017 5:02:45 AM PST by Mechanicos

For months now, there's been speculation that researchers might have finally created time crystals - strange crystals that have an atomic structure that repeats not just in space, but in time, putting them in perpetual motion without energy. ... But time crystals have a structure that repeats in time, not just in space. And it keep oscillating in its ground state. ...

That’s nothing. Wait until we discover the other 178 forms of matter besides solid, liquid, gas, plasma, and time crystals.

If you create something which perpetuates into time and space forever, won’t that crystal eventually come to occupy every space and moment of the universe?

We have an amazing Creator. Amazing in soooo many ways. His love, mercy, grace and generosity are only a few opening subjects for exploration and study. His attributes are inexhaustible.

Only time will tell.

It takes a tremendous amount of energy to cool the molecules and then bombard them with lasers. They don’t last forever.

A perpetual clone ... continuing to recline itself till the end of time. Someone needs additional taxpayer funding, it seems.

The article is one of the most poorly written pieces of trash I have seen in a long time.

The laws of quantum mechanics (specifically the non-commutation of the position and momentum operators) guarantee that matter in its ground state exhibits motion ("zero-point energy").

This article seems to say that you can generate spin-flips in a lattice of coupled atoms, which are at a different frequency from the input signal, by exciting the lattice with a pair of lasers.

What happens when you turn off the lasers (since, according to the article, changing the characteristics of the input from the lasers changes the phase of the coupled system...err, that's "phase" as in "solid, liquid, gas, 'time crystal' and not "phase" as in "shift of a sinusoidal wave by so and so many radians")

And here I was hoping for thiotimoline and time travel...I've always wondered about the Chem Engineering aspects of synthesizing thiotimoline, anyway, and how one would have to have a completely dry reactor vessel and transport to prevent loss of yield. ;-)

All is in motion.

There is harmony and disharmony.

There are sacred sounds.

They are harmonious and in tune.

Harmony is mathematical.

Indeed. Understanding and significance grasping will have to come later. And slowly. Could be a big deal. Very interesting if so.

Nice Post. Should by read by all of the Physics-Freepers.
