Homogeneous charge compression ignition, or HCCI, is the black art of of internal combustion engines that aims to produce diesel-like fuel efficiency for the cost of gasoline. Although some of its competitors have developed and subsequently given up on the tech, Mazda confirmed that the next-generation of SkyActiv engines will employ HCCI technology, improving fuel economy by 30 percent and at the same time reducing exhaust emissions.

My last rear wheel drive car was an Infiniti J30.
I dreaded even a 1/4 inch of snow.
man was that car scary to drive, made my old Supra Turbo and Z-28 Camaro’s feel like Jeep 4x4’s in comparison..

Still, i wish i still owned any one of them cars, They were all beautiful vehicles....especially the 78 Z and the awesome Supra.

Apparently there was more FReepers around in 1862 that I ever would have guessed!

Oh the wasted potential in that 78 Z-28... 145 or 65 horse with a 4 barrel carb. My 70 1/2 RS was running close to 300 with a 2 barrel, headers and a bit of cam. My wife’s 2008 SKY redline is at that with a freakin 4 banger in it! :-)

The Army's old M-35 Deuce & a half and M-54 5-tons came with both multi-fuel and diesel-only engines.
In my experience the multi-fuels were not reliable and got replaced with diesel-only engines:

I want a practical sedan like a Camry with rear wheel drive as an option. I hear the automakers save $100 per car because it is easier to install the engine/drive train in a front wheel drive car. I would pay $100 bucks to have a RWD Camry.

The Dodge Charger SE is a V6 and a little more practical than the muscle versions, but I agree. It’s not like Toyota and Nissan don’t put RWD in their Lexus and Infiniti lines.

I wonder if an AWD car like a Ford Fusion would give a better feel than the understeer and torque steering of a front wheel drive.

I hate under steer too but apparently a lot of people like it or don’t know any better.
