Kamiyah Mobley was taken from University Medical Center on July 10, 1998, just eight hours after she was born
The case of a baby abducted from a Jacksonville hospital nearly 18 years ago has been solved, police said Friday, with the newborn girl grown into a healthy young adult. Kamiyah Mobley was found alive and well in South Carolina, Jacksonville sheriff’s deputies announced at a news conference.
According to NBC affiliate WTLV-TV, over 2,000 leads came out in the year following her abduction, but all ran dry and the case remained cold for nearly two decades. But officers found Mobley, who was living under a different name, and received a DNA sample which later proved she was the abducted infant A tip sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploted Children last year helped break the case, sheriff's officials said on the department's Twitter account.
Police did not release the name Mobley has been living under, but did announce the arrest of 51-year-old Gloria Williams on charges that include kidnapping. It was not immediately clear if she had an attorney Mobley was taken from University Medical Center on July 10, 1998, just eight hours after she was born. According to reports at the time, a woman posing as a health care worker entered her room saying the child had a fever and needed to be checked before grabbing Mobley and leaving the hospital.
Surveillance video could not identify the person who took Mobley, with nurses at the time saying that person had been with the baby hours before the abduction. A camera inside the nursery was broken and there were no photos taken of Mobley before the abduction.
Mobley is now in good health, and "a normal 18-year-old woman," according to the sheriff's Twitter account. Her biological family is "elated" but the victim will determine how she'll make contact with them.
If this “woman” were one of the four low-lives who tortured that poor kid in Chicago, this headline would read “Teen who was abducted...”

WOW, yes. Seems very traumatic for the girl, and also her “birth family” in many ways.
Prayers up that they work through this to a positive long-term outcome.
The Lying Leftist Media. Can you believe a word they say? I’d say the presumption is they are lying. That would mean they would have to PROVE they are not lying with clear and convincing evidence. So far, I’m not convinced.
1) The family who raised here were not involved in the kidnapping.
2) They raised her well.
3) They, and her birth family, are able to meet on friendly terms.
My hopes as well. If the person arrested is the “adopted” mother, the thing would be a very big mess.
In the above book a girl is kidnapped by a woman who passes her off as her own child. The kidnapper dies, and the girl is raised by her "grandparents".
Years later she discovers who she really is.
She is torn between the people who raised her in a loving home, and the parents who never gave up looking for her.
The real life woman in this news story is in for some very tough times while she deals with what happened to her.
Not a mess in the sense of there being any sort of difficulty at all regarding how to proceed. If the woman is the kidnapper or directly hired the kidnapper she needs to be put away incommunicado for a long time.
She hurt a lot of people and she is not properly part of the solution.
There are several victims here and she isn’t one of them.
Her removal protects society as a whole.
The kidnapper needs to go to prison for a long time. However, I find it hard to believe that all of her family are “innocent victims.” Sure, distant uncles or cousins who had limited contact with her may not have had reason to suspect anything wrong. But how could the people who had daily contact with her not have suspected?
She probably was out of contact for some time before kidnapping the child, and moved somewhere new immediately after.
That is the usual pattern and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to plan it.

It’s hard to think of a more hellish scenario for any person, isn’t it? It would be very bad if she was raised in a loving home OR in a hate-filled dysfunctional family.
Sounds like the young woman had an idea that things were not right with the woman that she was told was her mother.
