I remember when I first took a very serious look at Donald Trump; when I heard him say, "Americas problem is too much political correctness."
Then he refused to apologize for not being politically correct. I remember literally saying, "WHOA!" I came on to this forum and said that Donald Trump was worth a serious look.
I believe that was when he won the Presidency or at least gained a lot of die hard support from the forgotten majority. Finally someone running for public office that has a spine and said screw you to the squishy bs of the left and the liberal press.
What was it about DJT that caught your attention?
Completely agree. Once he stood up against PC and Immigration reform he won the election.
That Trump was a fighter and not a pushover like GOP candidates in the past.
That was his, “There you go again” moment. It was beautiful.
I watched his announcement he would run and was onboard then. He was the only one who got how frustrated people are with open borders and globalism.
When I moved to NEPA and was going to New York to Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York is when I began to really watch him, course back there in the area we knew when he ate, slept, got into his Limo, where he was going, with whom and for how long...
I started reading his books, and when he announced, (I was already moved back to Utah then) I said: “Yep, he’s going to be the next POTUS and never looked back...
We are in for one heck of a ride folks, 4 or 8 years, we don’t know, but I’ve got my seat belt on, my bullet proof vest, cases of bug spray and popcorn for a life time, I’m ready to ROLL!!!
its almost spooky you say that.
My father said exactly the same thing when the debate where Trump condemned what PC culture had done to our country after Megyn Kelly tried to stitch him up.
Before that we had been leaning Trump, but we’re not fully there yet. His powerful response just told us he was the real deal.
The moles had pretended to serve both sides for so long (Mark Levin for example, or various posters here) that even now they don't understand why they can't come up with a phrase or bluster for a few months and have that consequence go away.
Merciless perpetual attacks on Hillary that no other politician would have made.
“You’d be in jail”.
It was much later on when Trump started adding more dimensions to his campaign but something stood out to me when Right Side Broadcasting was doing a pre-game in Phoenix and walked the line outside the arena, the VAST majority of people where gravitating towards Trump over immigration. Of course, Arizona being a border state could have made a bigger difference but his stance on tough immigration was likely the lynch pin.
When we said he would build a wall and stop the illegal alien inundation.
THAT is what won him the election.
Millions of Americans have been screaming for enforcement of our laws and borders and the only solution offered by those in Washington was abandoning the rule of law and surrendering the country.
For me, I went from mocking him and not particularly caring for him, although not really actually knowing him, when Kate Steinle was murdered.
That was it for me. He was the one to turn this around, even though we cannot bring her back.
Question one, the first debate.
“Will you promise not to run as an independent if you lose this primary?”
“No.”
That’s what got me fully aboard the Trump train as well.
I was leaning towards him for a while, but still undecided, but it was the refusal to go along with the-way-we-do-things that made me sit up and pay attention!
I think about 7-8 weeks after his announcement to run, a really smart FReeper ( I think his name was crosdaddy) had a post about how he’s the only person to take on the malignant tumor infecting America, cultural Marxism. I did initially support Cruz, and when Trump first got in, I thought Trump was a snowplow for Cruz, just clearing the way. But after a couple of months, it was clear Trump was running for himself, and after a couple of Cruz’s questionable votes,as well as Trumps all out war on cultural Marxism, I switched over to Trump. I think in September ‘15.
The fact that he is a rabid capitalist, alpha male, non PC as they come and his ability to condense volumes and months worth of back stabbing treachery into a laser beam of TRUTH in 4 simple words. And has the balls to say and mean each and every one of them
Stuff like that.
1. Even though he wasn't my first choice for the GOP nomination, I became a fan when be beat the crap out of Jeb Bush from one end of the primary season to the other.
2. I became a die-hard fan and financial supporter with his legendary "You'd be in jail!" comment at the third presidential debate. There isn't a political candidate in the U.S. today who would make such an "'Eff you!" statement like that.
It was a bumpy road on Free Republic for quite a while. 😂
Yep. When he told Rosie O’Donnel and Me-Again Kelly to FO, I was in like Flint. Haven’t looked back.
