Will Megyn Kelly's Career be Doomed by the "McLean Stevenson Effect?"
Self | January 8, 2017 | PJ-Comix

Four years ago I posted about the "McLean Stevenson Effect" which you can read HERE.

Basically, McLean Stevenson starred on the hit series M*A*S*H. However, after 3 seasons in the role of Henry Blake, Stevenson got tired of being part of an ensemble and decided to leave the show and go it alone on the "McLean Stevenson Show" which was an immediate flop. His career never recovered and his name has become synonymous with really poor entertainment career decisions. You could even consider McLean Stevenson to be the patron saint of that type of poor judgement.

Okay, so my question is, will Megyn Kelly suffer from the curse of the "McLean Stevenson Effect?" To me the signs are all there. She has/had a built in audience at Fox News which she alienated by her attacks upon Donald Trump. However, if she thinks she will be attracting a new audience at NBC, she needs to be aware that the liberals still dislike her for merely being associated with Fox News. That is what I am reading on the web now. In addition, she appears to be spread very thin in her new role as morning host and a couple of other slots at NBC. Maybe she could even substitute for Brian Williams.

Her biggest flaw might be thinking it was all about her. What she doesn't get is that the Fox News audience (which she won't get at NBC) was essential for her previous ratings success.

All I know is her quick descent at NBC will be very painful. Megyn will spend the rest of her life wishing she never left her Fox News gig (along with regretting attacking Trump).

What McLean Stevenson's name means for TV entertainment, Megyn Kelly's name could become synonymous with poor TV news department decisions.

I agree she will have nowhere near the audience at NBC. The other thing is, she is in her mid-forties. In a few years, she's just going to be another old looking hag. Makeup, botox and plastic surgery can only do so much. In in an industry where appearance can make or break you, she's going to find a lot of much younger talent nipping at her six inch heels.

Shelly Long also made a career reversal after she left "Cheers" for a movie career that never got off the ground.

She is replacing an unknown. I think having her out of the Fox lineup could crash her ratings.

John Amos was fired from Good Times after three seasons because he didn't agree with the show's focus on the Jimmy Walker character's buffoonery instead of dealing with real inner-city issues.

Amos seemed to survive okay, probably best remembered for his role in Coming To America.

“”Greta left Fox, because she could not stand Kelly.”

I think Greta left Fox because she was told to not come to the office as in she was fired. I think the issue involved her siding against the anti Ailes crowd. She had spoken out they she did not see or know of any harassment at the office. I believe that doomed her.

I believe she will fall in the doomed path of Katie Curic.
Curic was the queen of NBC, she could do nothing wrong, then her popularity went to her head. Katie thought she could be the greatest thing since sliced bread.
And where is she today.
She has been caught changing an interview to better suit her agenda, she has had failures,
Still in Katie's mind she is the greatest.
She just can't find viewers that have the same opinion.
-———So here goes Megyn Claiming she turned down $100 million from Fox. (I read one article that said when Rupurt heard this he rolled his eyes).
Megyn is beginning her fall—wear a helmet Megyn.

‘Tis said, probably accurately, that Couric and many other big-name female TV “journolists” sold their legs and their looks for access and face time of the stars (er, politicians) and stories they were “interviewing”.

You were being sarcastic about Paul Simon’s career going nowhere after leaving Garfunkel, right?

Her downfall will be of the Katie Curic, Connie Chung variety.

No one really wants to watch her.

1. I think her downfall at NBC will be quick. 2. She won't retain her Fox News audience and 3. the new liberal audience will be hostile to her for merely having worked at Fox.

1. YES.
2. SO true. She's lost ME.
3. Indeed they will and she will be asked a zillion times about what made her leave. They won't believe anything she says unless she dumps on Fox.

She made her bed. She might find it old, creaky, lumpy and uncomfortable. Poor Megan. [NOT.]

Now, to be honest, Megyn Kelly would have been the hottest star on the planet - demanding, and getting easily 100 million per year from anybody whom who asked! - IF (but only IF) she had taken down Donald Trump with her interviews, her "debate" tricks and attacks, or her follow-on interviews and continued media effects. (Megyn's replies and assaults on Trump were repeated thousands of times later by all other "news" anchors and pundits as they used those words to establish Hillary's agenda and themes. )

We are reminded in thousands of articles about how the first debate back in 1960 took out Nixon and crowned JFK as king. The national news media has been trying to repeat that power for 56 years in every election since.

Yes. Probably starting with ever-more revealing red carpet appearances, and lack of dresses and clothes during each subsequent appearance.

She’s an idiot. Even though she’s no conservative, sometimes she has common sense and that will be enough for them to hate her.

Santa Klaus is white won’t go over so well on NBC.

Maybe she can make a comeback on theBlaze or OANN.

The OANN crew are all excellent - their station is where I go for national and international news.
