Have you noticed that women in "glamour" photos of the nearly-nude sort tend to have a very hostile expression, with their mouths open like sharks ready to snap?

Oh, I absolutely HAVE noticed. If I may play Miss Junior Psychologist (and why not? everybody else does) I'd say they're bottling up an uncomfortable load of inner contradiction.
On the one hand, they're doing sexual meat-marketing, very well knowing they're being sized up for sausage-appeal, but they're resolutely OK, OK, OK with that. On the other hand, they need to actually fend off penetrating male glances, which accounts for the icy or scowling demeanor.

Finns, though Nordic, are ethnically and linguistically different from Scandinavians such as that lady, whom I’d hate to meet in a dark alley if I’d said something negative about lutefisk recently.

I wonder what pageant this is. (One can’t exactly find out from the article!) Miss World, Miss Universe, or something specific to Finland as Miss America is to the U.S.
Maybe Miss Ikalaba will win a college scholarship, as Miss America does. My cousin has been a pageant coach for Miss America for many years. Several of her protegees have won Miss Missouri and done well nationally, although I don’t believe she has a Miss America winner.
Of course, I’m a tad older but to me, Cary Grant is far sexier than the hairless (waxed off, of course) metrosexual in his jams!
Both the hairless body and the pants dropping off are more likely to appeal to other men than to women.

It’s all part of the Great Confusion. That’s a nice-enough looking guy, might even be handsome when he’s 55, if he doesn’t take drugs. However, I don’t care about all the work he’s put into his abs, and I’m sure not interested in seeing Mr. Wiggles. That’s aimed at other guys, even if he doesn’t realize it.
