A spool of cable would be as bad as steel.

I was hoping the cable end would come loose soe we could see what a really long piece of black spagetti would look like ;-)
I saw a steel coil on the turnpike that did just that. It went through the Jersey barrier like it was nothing. It unwound enough to block both East and West bound lanes. Fortunately it didn’t hit any cars.
I have two close encounters. One passed me on the shoulder going the other way at night - closing speed about 120. Poopy pants.
The second was not a year later, one came off a truck, uncoiling as it went, launched right over an exit ramp like a roll of stainless steel toilet paper on Devil’s Night.
Both from trucks overturning on the PA Turnpike. The only comfort is I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have felt a thing.
I've seen them go straight up in the air on a temper mill. The experienced guys knew when to run like hell.

I have. As a young kids on a family vacation. Luckily it veered right into a wooded area.
