I can identify. I live in a mostly Black heavily Dem part of S Atlanta in John Lewis District. I heard a lot of both fireworks and gunfire last night, the first time I’ve heard gunfire since the previous New Year, and the New Year before that as I’ve now spent over 3 years in this same neighborhood.
I often wonder where all those bullets go on New Year’s eve. Does everyone buy and use blanks?
Miami PD routinely issues “stay inside” warnings for New Year’s Eve. And it is good advice to heed.
Latinos do not believe that “what goes up must come down.” Families with children go to celebrate where drunks shoot guns into the air. A three year old girl died when struck by a falling bullet two or three years ago in San Antonio.
I expected his head to be a lot harder than that.
Dear God
I don’t know anybody so stupid in my life time to shoot into the sky while around during folks activities.
Therfore this is a dumber than a box of rocks community.
Who in the hell would waste ammo, would waste ammo on a person such as this...
What are the odds
Dumb is as dumb does...
It wasn’t me.
Democrat neighborhood for ya. Probably a gangsta. They do this in the Savannah and Jacksonville ghettos. Miami is terrible about this. All probably illegal guns
“apparently fired by a reveler welcoming”.
Apparently did not use spell check or common sense.
Being a Democrat, it hit him in the least likely place that would cause brain damage.
I can remember neighbors firing a shotgun into the air on New Years Eve. I hope/imagine that it was only birdshot.
It’s a good thing he wasn’t in Detroit when the clock struck twelve; it resembles a war-zone there with the gunfire.
I’ve heard Chicago has cut down “accidental shooting” dramatically by banning firearm purchases by regular citizens. I don’t think they had a single one last year.
If I fire a gun for the noise effect (and there are legitimate times to do this*) I always fire it at something even if that something is the ground.
* For instance, our hunting groups used to have walkie-talkie radios and compasses, but no really good way of locating each other. Over the course of a week, there would be a few times when we would be trying to regroup and someone would be in range of the walkie-talkie, but far enough to not be able to hear a shout. He would then request a single shot be fired to give him something to home in on. A few years ago we went to GPS and now have no trouble at all.
