Note to Trump, don't be like Newt and cross the aisle for global warming.

Well that didn’t take long. Newt must really be pissed that he didn’t get Secretary of State.

This story is worth keeping as a classic example of “psychological “projecting”. If eve there was a politician who was always ready to cave whenever things got a little too uncomfortable, it was Newt Gingrich. And, as Newt knows, that’s why the media and the left still like to keep him hanging around. It’s also the reason why Trump didn’t pick him for anything.

What Newt (and many others) do not understand is that Trump is not a politician. And since he doesn’t think or act like a politician, the media and many others are confused by him. This will be uninteresting 4 years, but what lots of people are going to learn his that, not only is Trump brilliant, he knows exactly what he wants to accomplish and how to goo about it.

This was an out of context hit on Gingrich. I heard the exchange. He was asked what he feared most and it was a reasonable answer in context. The media is always looking to sell news, even when there is no news.

Newt would have been a wonderful President , but he’s had his day sadly .

I wish he had ran in 1996 or 2008. He would have beaten 0bama in 2012 if the GOP establishment hadn’t stitched him up in the primaries

Unfortunately, Newt’s statement is borne out by modern history of which Newt was a part. The GOP and so-called conservatives have consistently, almost reflexively, caved over the past few decades. It’s just so predictable. It’s axiomatic that Democrats do not cave and republicans do.

My bigglyest fear is that establishment Republican Senators will do to Trump what they did to Newt’s Contract With America. Back then the Mcconnels, Graham’s, McCains of that time did everything possible to sabotage everything that came out of the House.

We need to be very selective now in preparing for 2018. We need to fight on 2 fronts. First, we need to find candidates who can take Dem House seats so the Dems have to play defense and cannot take seats from us.

But we may also need to make an example of 1 or 2 Rs in the primary.

If his friends leave now because he won and and starts to drain the swamp, they weren’t real friends to begin with.
If he sticks to his guns and does what he said he would do, he will find he has a hundred million more real friends.
THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!

Jim, we have "Lose their nerve", "Give in", "Left will hate".

Can you imagine what FReepers could do with those quotes?

I do not see the problem with what Newt said. All he wants is Trump to remain vigilant and not cave into the left.

In an interview with ABC News' "This Week," the former Speaker of the House said the new Trump administration will have to take positions the "left will hate."

And for the last EIGHT YEARS, those of us on the right have hated the positions taken by the left.

Time for a little pay back. IMHO, Mr. Trump has a very stiff spine. The trick will be to convince the spineless RINOS to go along with him.

Trump isn’t a normal politician though, his history so far is that under attack he digs in and doubles down

Well, there’s the 1st ‘problem’: thinking a BUSINESS man, gaining the Presidency, is akin to a politician. He must dance WITH the politician, but it’s not his tune.

I can ONLY hope he tears the whole charade down from within...

This story is worth keeping as a classic example of “psychological “projecting”. If eve there was a politician who was always ready to cave whenever things got a little too uncomfortable, it was Newt Gingrich.

I don't think this is projecting. Newt, by training, is an intellectual. A historian. He's responding to what has transpired in the past. Let's not forget that what Trump proposes to do, which is essentially to kick over the table, involves the repudiation of things that have been entrenched for 30-50 years in American politics.

Whether it's civil service reform and federal employee union organizing going back to Kennedy or finally fixing the mistake of Reagan's amnesty and border security failure. It's a big ask.

I go back to that first rule of warfare: the enemy gets a vote. What we are all talking about is unstoppable forces meeting immovable objects. If anything this will be more than uninteresting. We're talking about demolishing a lot of sacred cows. The only thing Trump didn't touch is entitlements.

Maybe Trump, the non-politician, pulls it off. I'm cautiously optimistic on that score. But let's not pretend this will be some sort of blitzkrieg and we're gonna be able to trade in the currency of media schadenfreude and that will carry us through.

That's what I think Newt was saying.

Newt, honey child, Trump is not you.

He took the heat rather then running.

I have the same concern, and justifiably. I don’t think it’ll happen, but it’s worth being vigilant about.

Remember, DJT needs allies OUTSIDE the admin, to confuse and harass the Left, too. Especially August ones.

Sounds more like Gingrich losing it. Pardon me if I don’t give up on Trump before he even takes office.

Sounds more like Newsmax trying to create controversy where none exists.........

As far as I can tell from the article, Newt is saying nothing more than what YOU and I and the rest of the folks here are worried about after being screwed by the past candidates we have supported........

So Pardon me if I don't fall for an obvious hit piece and continue to appreciate Newt Gingrich and his support of Donald Trump even before he takes office.

He's responding to to a direct question from the MSM and some fringe outlet is trying to make a story out of it to get hits.
