Unchecked fire for 3 weeks before sailing, Ismay himself on board, and the iceberg hit right where the fire damage was. And they sped across, stoking the engines because they needed someplace to put all that burning coal.

Anybody else finding this hilarious?

Fake news. Where does it come from?

Oh. Right. The Fake News Media.

For a minute I thought they were trying to say a fire burning on board caused it to take 3 weeks to sink. LOL

I am not a sailor but it does sound improbable that a big ship with a big crew could have a big fire onboard for three whole weeks without anyone noticing it’
????????

J. Dilley, a fireman on the Titanic (survivor) - “From the day we sailed, the Titanic was on fire. My sole duty, along with 11 other men, had been to fight the fire. The fire started in bunker number 6. The coal on the top was wet as all of it should have been, but the bottom had been permitted to get dry”.
“The dry coal at the bottom took fire and smoldered for days. The wet coal at the top kept the flames from coming through.”
“No, sir, we didn’t get that fire out. It was right under bunker number 6 that the iceberg tore the biggest hole in the Titanic”.
From “Sinking of the Titanic”, Official Edition, 1912, Russell

I highly doubt any sea captain would put to sea with a massive fire on board.

Ship Insurance Fraud was HUGE in the late 1800s and early 1900s...

The sister ship “Olympic” was deemed damaged from a couple of collisions while Titanic was still in her final stages.

According to accident reports, the Olympic had her keel twisted, which would cause MAJOR reconstruction and also making her currently uninsurable. Don’t laugh, but it is very possible, the Olympic is what is down in the Atlantic and not the Titanic.

How can someone explain, the Olympic sailing for an additional 15 years without any repairs from her previous collisions?

JP Morgan called out sick a day before April 10th, 1912 and alerted his buddies not to voyage as well. A handsome insurance payment was paid out to the owners of Titanic from the “iceberg”...

If today, the MEDIA can fool a bunch of people about Russia hacking our election, what the hell do you think they can do in 1912?

How could a massive fire go unnoticed for three weeks or even 3 hours for that matter? While a massive ship, a massive fire would emit incredible amounts of smoke along with incredible amounts of heat. Yet no one noticed?

Besides that, survivors would have said something about that back when they were rescued. At least one would imagine that to be the case.

Seems to me that the Telegraph bought a fake sensational story that, as usual, they didn't fact check at all.

Maybe the fire immediately behind the point of impact was like a magnet that attracted the iceberg? Just a theory (LOL)...

“Nobody has investigated these marks before. It totally changes the narrative. We have metallurgy experts telling us that when you get that level of temperature against steel it makes it brittle, and reduces its strength by up to 75 per cent.

World renowned metallurgist Rosie O'Donnell has proven that fire can't affect steel.

More seriously, I take the testimony by Dilley in post #10 as more true. Was there a fire? Do companies do stupid things to hit deadlines? Likely yes to both. Was it a "huge" or "enormous" fire? I don't now what the standard for coal bunker fires on passenger ships is, so I can't tell if this was a big fire or merely a big headline.

While this seems laughable, anybody who has experience knows the seriousness of a coal bunker / silo fire and how difficult they are to extinguish. Here's a pick of a coal pipe (about 20 inch diameter) with a (literally) red hot section due to a silo fire. The silo is above the pipe. The pipe discharges into the coal feeder which controls the rate of flow into the pulverizers on the floor below. The story tells of Howe the plant operators handled the fire (rather mishandled).

Leonardo DiCaprio steered the ship into the iceberg so it would sink and not emit any more CO2. True story.

Has anyone thought to ask Leonardo DiCaprio? He was on board the Titanic when it struck the iceberg. My wife has video evidence of that.

The Titantic sunk because of GREED and reduced safety and very loose industrial regulations of the McKinley administration.
