It is the country's biggest evacuation for an unexploded bomb since the end of the war. The 1.8-tonne British explosive is thought to have come from a 1944 air raid, which destroyed the old town. Officials chose Christmas Day for the evacuation because it was less difficult than on a normal working day.
January 2012: A construction worker was killed when his digger hit an unexploded bomb in Euskirchen.

Are those cases of beer that the firemen are carrying?

Could be water?
But this is Germany on Christmas day.
Perhaps an after work thirst quencher?
E O D work might make your throat dry?

Better dispose of it now before it becomes a weapons cache for the Al-Nazis.

I remember seeing the German Army having cases of beer on the back of their artillery track vehicles when we would have maneuvers together.

1.8-tonne? That is a massive bomb for the WW2 era.

At least it wasn’t in the redlight district like what happened a few years ago in Berlin. The whole city was paralyzed.
BTW. I’m heading Augsberg for a consulting gig in Springtime. I hope they finish by then... Looking forward to leaving the increasing madness of Berlin.

Maybe you need to be relaxed and have a steady hand. Not my line of work, but my thinking is,it would be like a surgeon.
I would be concerned if my Doctor was perhaps, a bit too steady?

1.8 metric tons = 3968 pounds
The Lancaster could drop bombs this big.

How much is that in U.S. pounds? Not sure, but I do know you have to shop around on the service charge and exchange rate for the transaction.
The ones at the airport tend to be the very worst!
