I'm almost retired!
You should consider that a complement.
I realized that when the young clerk in the deli stopped calling me *Miss* and I became *Ma’am*...I was on the other side. :)
From “Miss’ to “Ma’am” comes when you’re about 35!
I think it was because this guy looked like he just jumped over the border. Very polite, but ...
Haha!
I guess you look pretty young? Haha!
A few weeks ago I saw a bartender card a 70-year-old guy. He got all bent out of shape and left in a huff. When being asked for ID, I always demand the seasoned-citizen discount.
A few years ago I was bringing my mom back from her winter vacation. We stopped for dinner, and we both got the senior’s discount.
The next day I was at the Walmart in St. George Utah to pick up some stuff, and wanted some beer.
I got carded!
It happens. Mom and I both still laugh about it.
I’m starting to make a mental note of senior discounts these days.
That’s why I can’t figure why this guy was several decades off ... 8o)
Should have called them a racist, because only racists card people....
... i like that: “seasoned citizen” rather than the less distinguish “senior citizen”.
Congrats. I still get carded now and then and I’m 60.
Not kidding.
Haha, he was a newly arrived Mexican. I am beginning to think the place only employs them.
OH, THAT IS SO CUTE!!!
So what would have happened if you were one of the millions of Americans....without a photo ID? Would you have be denied your beer....but oddly allowed to vote?
That is really nice. Keep it up! 8o)
A new grocery store blew into town. Wegman's. Immense. Magnificent food palace. Two-level parking garage attached.
Fine booze department. Prices about 10% below the local packies. Plus, since Wegman's is a grocery store, and the packies are not, I get an additional 5% rebated on my credit card.
Fine and dandy. Minor annoyance at being carded at the register. Good government or something.
Then Total Wine swept into town (located in Everett, a little inconvenient, a little grungy, but not far away). A quick review of their website indicated Wegman's was overcharging.
Total Wine's prices blew away Wegman's, even accounting for the 5% grocery store credit card advantage. And no stinkin' carding ritual! Ain't capitalism great?
If Progressives ruled the roost, this market failure would be swiftly corrected. But they don't. Not totally, anyway. Even in Taxachusetts!
... Ah, good reminder.
I live in a somewhat Mexican neighborhood [Note: All of Los Angeles is a mostly Mexican neighborhood] ... I always produce my license at the time I vote. The check in ladies always pounce on it.
One of these days i’m not going to give it to them.
The liquor stores by me have a policy of carding everybody. No exceptions.
Wow, Wegman’s. We don’t have it in LA. I usually buy at Trader Joe’s.
My voice is very young. I work in the stock market as a trader so it serves me still.
Well, it probably cuts down on fights ... or probably underage buyers.
