I think Cruz is just shorthand for #nevertrump.

A certain collection of posters race around this site for thread to thread whining, in the most insulting ignorant terms, about every single thing Trump does daily. They posture as if it is “principal” that motivated them.
It is not. It is childish petulance Cruz lost. They have yet to made a rational, politically principled point in opposition to Trump. Instead they are merely motivated by an infantile need to carp and whine about everything Trump does because it is Trump who is doing it and not Cruz.
For example “god-emperor” and utterly infantile statement thrown at Trump by these butt hurt cry babies.

This has been the problem for the Cruzites all along. They are a bunch of cyberbully clowns who want to take shots at people then scream and whine when people shoot back at them.
