I got this cryptic message when I turned off my computer the other day. I have no idea what it means. It seems to be working fine, but recently would restart instead of shutting-down. The only problem I've had in the last month or so is a Java update that didn't seem to take, so I did a system restore to a date before the newer Java version was installed.

I haven't installed any new hardware or software recently.

Do you absolutely need Java for work or something else? If not, uninstall it completely. It’s a giant security PITA.

As for the blue screen itself, I believe it means a driver for needs to be updated/changed. Could have to do with Java.

Try looking in Windows Event viewer under:
control panel
administrative tools
event viewer

See if there’s a problem/warning listed there that coincides with the blue screen event.

I got this cryptic message when I turned off my computer the other day.

That is known as a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD).

Google for Bug Check 0x44 (the code listed first in the last line).
