Trump has no authority to do anything to Carrier Corp before Jan 20 (inauguration day?). He simply made them an EXAMPLE during the campaign, as a LARGE corp in the news, who had decided to close the manufacturing plant in Indiana and move it lock stock & barrel to Mexico.

After Trump became PEOTUS, Carrier got worried about the threat of 35% tariff and started a new dialog with state of Indiana and a deal was reached to save 1100 American jobs in return for Some tax benefits. Keep in mind 1100 jobs equates to $50-60 Million payroll EVERY YEAR. Economists claim that $1 in manufacturing payroll creates $6 peripheral economic activity. IOW, Indiana saves the loss of $300 million ANNUAL economic activity by Carrier staying in Indiana. The tax incentives given to Carrier Corp are smaller by orders of magnitude.

This is not exactly crony capitalism, since Trump benefits nothing from Carrier. This is opposite of Solyndra where that corporation gave substantial contributions to democrats and received federal backed loans in return.

I do understand the point that Carrier received a tax deal, which other corporations did not. That could change after Trump Admin is officially in power. As a general policy, it could be as simple as imposing tariffs on any corporation which has existing manufacturing facilities in the United States, and decide to move them abroad. Therefore it will apply to all of them, and not only the cronies, which Trump has none, because as opposed to the other republican candidates, he was the only candidate without ultra rich sugar daddies pushing the cheap labor express.

Thank you. Your posts, including #181, are clearing up a lot of fine points of which I'm sure most of us are unaware.

As the Good Book says, "Those boo-birds picking at Mr. Trump on this deal know not of which they speak."

Curious if any of you “Movement Conservative” can comprehend the difference between cutting someone future taxes (i.e. Carrier) and taking money out of the Federal Treasury to make grants and loads to a crony (i.e. GM, Fisker or Solyndra)?

It is utterly amusing to watch supposed “Libertarians” and self styled “True Conservatives” busy mouthing the Marxist economic dogma that all economic output is property of the State and any time the state takes less it is a “Government subsidy”.

That is the base for this absurd “crony capitalism” argument. This dogma that any reduction in government taxation MUST be “paid for” by increased taxation on others is utterly absurd nonsense completely at odds with our system of Government.

Under the US Constitution (and the John Lock theory of the “Consent of the Governed” ) Taxes are the gift of the people to the Government. Government has no right to the income unless the people grant it. Amazing how self proclaimed “Constitutionals” like Levin and you, quickly discard ALL fact and reason to find some childishly petulant reason to whine about Trump daily.

Utterly amazing the sort of absurd intellectual positions “Movement Conservatives” are busy tying themselves into rather then give up their childish petulance that Ted Cruz lost the 2016 Primary

You Two individuals have consumed a great deal of bandwidth on your favorite subject, not the facts of the matter concerning Donald Trump, but about your obsession:

Mark Levin: “I don’t like him! I HATE him! See how horrible he is? I TOLJA I hated him! Cause I don’t like him! And he’s an idiot! And look at him! Standing there! Talking! Idiot! I hate him! Look at everything he does! I hate him!”

Could you be jealous of him, Mark??

Mark Levin: “WHAT??? Are you kidding me??? I hate him! He’s an idiot!! No WAY! Jealous??? Why would I be jealous?? I hate him! He disgusts me! Every move he makes!! Which I am watching! He ruins everything!! I do not like him!”

You're the one who's obsessed, nathanbedford— obsessed with grousing about every single act that Donald Trump undertakes, before he's even inaugurated.

My posting history demonstrates my lack of obsession with your ilk, and your posting history demonstrates your total obsession with disparaging President-elect Trump...

Amazing to watch people spew forth slogans with no idea what the slogans mean.

Conservative agenda? You mean like letting TAX PAYERS keep their OWN money rather then force them to give it to the Government?

Oh wait, that is what you and Levin are calling “crony capitalism” now!

How about Truth in advertising Mr Levin?

“If you are a brain dead whiner still nursing your butt hurt that Ted Cruz lost the 2016 GOP Primary to Trump, read this. If you are a rational thinking person, don’t waste your time”.

Nope. They just suggest that I've grown weary of your unceasing grousing about every single thing which Donald Trump says or does.

However, I will give "it" a rest.

WRT President-elect Trump, I'm positive that you won't. You're incapable of it...

"Makes me uneasy too but I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. So far he is doing pretty good."

Employ your vanquished enemies, just like we put the German Military to work after their surrender. IMHO this is what Trump will do w/ Gore and Romney so they don't run in 2020. Give Gore research duty on viable production solutions for Sour Gases @ Fracking sites or Natural Gas Capturing devices at smaller sites, or LFTR, Liquid Florine Thorium Reactors. That will keep him busy for a while.

Romney I am not sure what to give him....

Doesn’t mean I just have to kiss his ring

The least you do is not attack Trump when there is no evidence he's changed his position on "climate change".

Overall, his choices for his cabinet have overwhelmingly conservative as a whole.

And far, far better than Hillary’s would have been. Even if he disappoints on some decisions, such as Nikki Haley, the alternative would have been Hillary. And that would have been a total disaster for this country.
