They're meant to be best friends, but not every man and his dog shares this kind of bond. Incredible footage has emerged of a man fighting a large kangaroo in the Australian Outback in an effort to protect his pet pooch from the aggressive animal's clinches. The moment the man stood toe-to-toe and traded punches with the marsupial to save his dog 'Max' was captured on camera by a friend, who videoed the fight from the safety of his vehicle. The video was taken on what appeared to be a hunting trip in rural bushland.

The roo had never fought a southpaw before. He will be ready next time for that left handed bloke.

I don’t know anything about kangaroos, so I am wondering why it had the dog in a headlock. Kangaroos are herbivores, right? So he was not planning to eat the dog.

What a friend!
He was probably also yelling instructions out the window: "Hit him again. Move a bit to the right so I can get a clearer video shot. Sucker punch him in the gut. Duck!"

Probably, or perhaps it looked enough like a predatory dingo that the ‘roo preempted a perceived attack?
But knowing dogs, I think it was apt to run at the ‘roo yapping all the way.
Maybe the ‘roo had a headache and just wanted the noise to stop?
