Fidel is dead. Finally. This is really not news, as in reality he's been dead for some time now. What's news is how many people who should know better write about him as if this murderer, this tyrant was some kind of a hero. Why?
Do they see boats full of people from other Caribbean islands rushing to freedom, toward a better and more fulfilling life? Do they see planeloads of Venezuelans, Bolivians, and others rushing to Havana to learn how to do revolution, how to straighten up their faltering revolutions, how to, finally, do it right?
Are Cubans, after fifty-plus years of his rule and thousands of dead and full prisons, so clearly better off than people in the rest of the Caribbean? Are Cubans from Miami, tired of living in the corrupt, egoistic, greedy, and racist America, rushing back home? Do the Russians look at the billions spent to keep Castro in power as an example of how to invest successfully? Are the Venezuelans celebrating the returns on their Cuban investments?
So what did he and his revolution really accomplish? How different is Cuba of Castro from Cuba of Fulgencio Batista?
Batista's gang was replaced by the Castros and their gang. Batista secret service was replaced by Fidel's thugs. Rich landowners were replaced by party apparatchiks. American tourists were replaced by Russians and East Germans – for a while. Now even they don't come.
Can anyone point out any accomplishment worthy of all the blood spilled, thousands jailed and exiled, all the stolen property? .......
And Cuba isn't alone. What is the difference between the Russia of today and the Russia of the tsars? Today's tsar is not a Romanov, but Putin.

The progressives (and McCain) travelling to Cuba to wonder at Castro’s “accomplishments” were n0thing but lusting to have that kind of power over other people.
MSN was praising him as some kind of hero. They printed one quote of a Cuban saying he was like a “God” to him.
Most Leftists are basically nothing but Contrarians.
In part, for the same reason they prefer cheese from France versus cheese from Wisconsin.
No mystery. The so-called “bleeding heart liberals” and “love and peace hippies” are in fact Leftist Fascist Tyrants who hate the God of the Bible, hate individual freedom, and love totalitarian government.
The polarization is fundamentally a spiritual one. It is those who adhere to the spirit of antichrist (mainly the Left, along with Islam) and those who adhere to the gospel of the grace of Christ (mainly those on the Right).
For example, communists HATE the Bible and Christianity, Castro being a good example.
Dear Leader Zero is a god to many leftists I know. Many I know to be athiests. Must be a vacuum that has to be filled.
He died the seventh richest person in the world and had the power of life and death over every person in Cuba.
Of course he is their hero.
That is what they want for themselves.
We all follow the beat of one drum or another, whether we know it or not. Either the God of heaven, or the god of this world.
Castro gives a model of how those who praise him will rule this country if they are allowed.
Because he’s more of a romantic idea than a historical fact to them. Plus praising Castro pisses off conservatives which they enjoy.
Of course if it were Pinochet instead of Castro they’d be damning him and counting the bodies and putting his history under a microscope.
It’s their religion.
Fidel was one of their gods.
This is why Jill Stein lost control of herself, blurting out “presente.”
It’s what they value most. In other words, their religion.
Socialists gotta socialist. Marxists gotta marxist. Communists gotta communist.
That’s why.
Propaganda exerts its strongest effect on the weakest minds.
Not the weakest in the sense of being stupid, more like the weakest in the sense of being the most susceptible to believing lies. Failing the moral test rather than the strictly intellectual one.
McCain’s insane behavior since his return from Vietnam just fuels the conspiracy that he consented to the torture ala Bob Dole’s WWII injuries for political power when he got back. None of the other POWs had one good thing to say about him, ever. Including Jeremiah Denton.
The reason I say this is one of McCains torturers was supposedly imported from Cuba.

I agree, something seriously wrong with McCain. Voting around 70% with the dimocRATs. He lies to his constituents like a communist to keep getting elected.
