Insects, blood and faeces may not sound particularly appetising, but they are among the produce we should consider eating if we want our food to be sustainable and healthy, according to a team of chefs and scientists in Denmark.
...
We try to work with every type of produce. Insects, blood, jelly fish, fermented products that sometimes smell and develop mould, and the products look rotten, explains Roberto Flore, Head of Culinary Research and Development at the lab. Its about giving people more confidence with different produce and reconnecting with process of producing food."
...
Currently, researchers are working on how to make edible insects from ants to larvae more appetising to the uninitiated.
Other experiments have explored how animal blood, and its coagulating properties, could be used as an egg substitute as intolerance to the kitchen staple is one of the most common among child in Europe.
...
Its members never shy of controversy, one recently argued in a Munchies article that faeces should be explored as a source of food. After all, young elephants, hippos, koalas, rabbits and pandas eat their mothers faeces to introduce useful microbes into their digestive systems. And evidence shows that a diverse microbiome in the gut is vital for our health.
While the prospect may sound appalling, similar techniques are already being harnessed. Caterpillar faeces is fermented and used to flavour rice in Japan, says Flore, and kopi lowak, which is digested by the civet, is the most expensive coffee in the world.
At the moment, gastronomy that is high-quality and sustainable is only available for people who are in the position to buy luxury produce. We want good food available for everyone. That is our main goal.

How about we just completely wipe out the third world? I mean, it’s a matter of survival isn’t it? We could just stop feeding them or transferring tech.
So, hot dogs, then?
This must be some of that islamic science that they’ve imported.
Excellent
I love Jellyfish! I have three snack packs in my fridge right now! Think I’ll break one out right now!
If you add semen, isn’t that what Podesta does?
Nothing beats Soylent Green.
My first response was, “Eat $h!t and die!” - but these morons actually WANT to eat it. They’re welcome to it
You should have seen what they made me eat in the Army.
They would have served me crap sandwiches every meal but they ran out of bread.
"Hey Grandpa...."
No, thanks. I prefer my beef, chicken, pork, veg...you get the picture. If I want an edible, food-like substance, I will stop for fast food.
NO! There’s no need for WARS or killing. There’s plenty
enough on this earth for EVERYBODY without fighting and
killing each other. Work together to raise foods of all
kinds in abundance. SHARE, GIVE AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN UNTO
YOU, GOOD MEASURE, PRESSED DOWN AND RUNNING OVER SHALL MEN
GIVE INTO YOUR HAND.
I learned this from my father in WWII. Pray for the Kingdom
of God to come soon on this poor fallen creation.

Is that Obama’s Government school lunch menu?

Africa has millions of acres of land that could feed the whole continent. Corruption and ignorance make it nearly impossible to develop. Many farms and irrigation projects lie abandoned and unproductive. Look at Cuba and Venezeuala starving in agricultural paradises. Look at CA suffering from politically created drought.
The world will not starve from overpopulation but political ignorance.
You eat it.
absolutely correct you are.
but starvation is still stravation, especially if its us]
alas!
we need to retire these political hack bozos that are creating it
You’re not going to find a more efficient, natural process for converting plant matter into protein than a cow. See, cows don’t really eat plants. A couple of their “stomachs” are really bacteria farms. And those bacteria specialize in converting inedible plant matter into protein and simpler carbs. It’s those bacteria that cows eat... and the cows in turn are amazingly efficient in turning that food into body mass... almost 50%!
