Wisconsin Elections Commission Releases Presidential Election Recount Cost Estimate of $3.5 million

, one or both of the candidates will have to pay $3,499,689 to the Commission by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Commission Administrator Michael Haas. Both recount petitioners have been advised of the cost estimate.

At a meeting earlier today, the Commission directed staff to assess the full estimated recount fee to both petitioning candidates unless the candidates each submit payment for one-half of the total estimated cost.

“County Clerks have done their best to estimate the actual costs of conducting a large recount in a relatively short time,” said Haas. “The estimates may vary widely as some clerks may not have been able to precisely identify their estimated costs in the short time available to them. If the estimate turns out to be too high, the campaign will receive a refund. If the estimate is too low, they will have to pay the additional cost.”

Wisconsin’s 72 County Clerks expect to hire thousands of temporary workers to assist the county boards of canvassers in recounting the ballots. They also expect to be working extra hours and weekends to finish the recount by 8 p.m. Monday, December 12, the deadline established by the Commission today. The Commission will certify results by 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 13.

Best comedy event ever. Best Election ever. Thanks Trump for exposing how stupid these people are. Lets see if they put the money up. Put up or shut up.

That’s nearly half her recall kitty.

She’ll be left with $3 1/2 million to cover MI and PA.

Amount left does not include attorney’s fees and other incidental costs.

Is it worth it? There are lots of other stuff you could buy for $7 million.

A recount isn’t one of them. No added value here.

“That’s the fun part. If she signs up she has no upper limit guarantee.”

Oh, YEAH! Indeed that IS the fun part: unlimited liability!

I’m friends with a staunchly conservative older lady who just turned 90 and hasn’t missed working an election since she began this work.

They’ve already been working overtime to recount votes in a tight Assembly race. They should complete that this week and it is only in one District. Don’t know what other tight races are being recounted around the state.

These folks do not do this for the money. It is tiring work under stressful conditions.

Yup. Its tedious, boring work.

No one wins here and our democracy is turned into a running joke thanks to the likes of Stein.

All because libs are grasping at straws to try to undo the election.

Its funny the way the way these people contort themselves into pretzels to try to attain the impossible.

WI Filing fee $1.1 million
Recount 3.5 M
Stein estimated attorney fees 2.0M

Trump winning WI yet again...PRICELESS.

Seems that the donations are starting to peter out. She may not even have enough to pay for WI when all is said and done.

She backs out and pockets a cool $5-6 million. Nice gig.

Stein is apparently suing to overturn the decision so as to get a hand recount. She isn’t going to pay $3.5M for a machine recount by tomorrow.

We have enough trouble getting people to sign up to go to paid training just so we can staff for regular elections. Throw Christmas preparation and winter weather into the mix and they may have something of a problem getting enough people to do the job, particularly since they are talking about long days, evenings and weekends.

Snowflakes aren’t used to getting up and around early and working long days.
