'Who the **** has tomatoes and beans for breakfast?’ US foodies are NOT impressed with English dine
Daily Mail (U.K.) ^ | November 23, 2016 | Imogen Blake

There are some things the British do very well, and breakfast is one of them.

But one English diner has proved that the UK is not always able to recreate morning meals from other countries to quite the same standard.

A photo of a so-called 'American' breakfast at a roadside restaurant somewhere in England has gone viral for not remotely resembling what Americans eat in the morning.

The picture, posted on Reddit by JeffSergeant, outraged Americans for pairing items in a traditional English fry-up with pancakes and waffles.

Refried beans with tortillas sounds ok, but I’ve read the beans they use are Heinz pork and beans without the pork. They’re not sold here. Beans on toast, anyone?

I think half the world’s population eats rice, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

That sounds pretty good excepting that oats are for horses.     :)

Bangers and mash isn’t breakfast food

Kippers and eggs is and it’s great

Jamaica does kippers and eggs too

My grandfather (dads side) loathed tuna on account of the navy feeding it to them near daily when he was first in it, but oddly enough he still liked rice, even though as a POW it was essentially his sole sustenance for 3.5 years (and not enough at that). When I asked him as a kid he said rice was ok because anything you added to it made it better, even in the smallest quantities.

The fried English breakfast is supposedly a hangover cure.

No, that would be the porridge with a bit of Bell's whisky mixed in, the amount determined by the bloke on the piss a few hours earlier.

English bacon isn’t the same thing as American bacon. It’s made from pork loin, not pork belly. So even if an English breakfast includes “bacon”, it doesn’t actually have BACON.

English bacon is like what we call Canadian bacon.

For me, it's the only reason to eat anything served at an English breakfast.

They do have American style bacon, though uncommon. They call it stripey bacon.

Anyone who ever put ketchup on a breakfast sausage or eggs can understand grilled tomato in a fry up.

A lot of folks in the south eat tomatoes with their bacon and eggs. If you have a garden (which I do), there is plenty of room for a sliced tomato on a breakfast plate. I probably wouldn’t want beans for breakfast, but I suppose if I were hungry enough they’d do just fine.

All summer I eat sliced tomatoes with my bacon and eggs for breakfast, and lots of times when there are leftover pintos, or navy beans, or even lima beans in my fridge, I’ll mash them up like refried beans and have some of those with my breakfast too!

In 1969, my family and I were transferred to the north of England. We were deposited at a Bed and Breakfast at lunch time. We were shocked when we were served a pile of beans on toast, with tea. To this day, I hate beans.
