Washington Examiner ^ | 11/18/16 | Susan Crabtree

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, late Friday issued a glowing statement about Sen. Jeff Sessions' nomination to become attorney general, a positive sign for the Alabama Republican's path to confirmation.

With Republicans retaining only a narrow three-seat majority after the election, the Trump transition team is keeping a close watch on the reaction from the few centrist-leaning Republicans, such as Collins.

OK, I getcha, that would be the concern with Collins - if she and Flake and one more crossed over they might have a hope of doing it.

Harry Reid eliminated the filibuster for all but Supreme Court appointments.
Unless the GOP is stupid and reinstates it, they will use it against the Democrats.

Well supposedly he did call a black colleague boy one time about 40 years ago. And he said the only problem with the KKK is they used too many drugs.

Exactly - "supposedly" for the first and out of context of the original joking quip for the second one.

What did it cost Collins? At this stage of her career it’s not like a profile in courage.

The media loves their half-dozen “key Republicans”. Gonna get sick of hearing those disconnected back-stabbers lauded.

What’s the over/under on how many hours will pass before she turns on him?

How is Susan Collins a “key” Republican? She’s about as RINO as they come. Anyone counting on her for a conservative cause is at best rolling the dice.

More often than not, Collins sides with the dems. She SUCKS on immigration/trade.

Yea, that was it. I just hope the Republicans will continue in the tradition of Harry Reid, and do what he PROMISED TO DO, had Clinton won and the Democrats controlled the Senate, which was to FULLY do away with the filibuster...as it does still exist for Supreme Court nominees and legislation.

But I’m not optimistic there...we may have to wait until we knock out a bunch more of the Dems in 2018.

No argument on that...but give me Court votes and Cabinet votes and she’ll get my vote every November.

Paul LePage indicated he "may" run for the senate in Maine.

We'll see. Two years is a long time.

No argument there...as long as the better candidate can win in November. It is PATHETIC to have Linsey, McCain, and Hatch, from otherwise conservative states...just for starters.

Wow...Collins finally did the right thing!

Probably helped that she saw the electoral map and the entire state outside of Portland went red.

“Dont forget the joe munchkin, west virginny.”

Joe wanted to caucus with the Republicans but the leadership said no. I wonder why?

Not sure why I got the question, but I doubt it cost Collins anything - she probably thinks she'll benefit.

My comments were related to the charges against Sessions being bogus.
