“that’s what grandmas do. Feed everyone.”
Up to a point. If I accidentally invited a random stranger and I had plenty to share and I had no reason to fear any harm from that stranger, then I would leave the invitation standing and hope that we both would have a good experience out of it. But if literally everyone who wants a meal was prepared to show up at my home, I would not be able to feed them all or manage crowd control and the misunderstandings that would likely result. Similarly, allowing one person in need to be rescued by allowing him or her to immigrate to our wealthy society would probably be a morally good thing to do. But, unless we are infinitely wealthy, we can’t provide food and shelter and everything else to every deserving needy person in the world. Wherever we do draw the line, we will be in a sense arbitrary, but we need to draw it somewhere. That’s why we need an orderly process for admitting people into our country, a set of laws that we establish and adjust as necessary.

With a more the merrier attitude, my family has long been in the habit of inviting and enjoying the company of assorted friends and acquaintances to Thanksgiving dinner.
No texting for me! No tv, no cell phone, no radio, no nothing....just me and my rock. This post is coming to you via smoke signals to my friend on the far mountain who has a computer.
I saw the kid interviewed this morning and he seemed nice enough ......
