Patrol says a state trooper arrested a driver after clocking his speed at more than 200 mph.
The patrol says Trooper Ryan Smith pulled over 19-year-old Hector Fraire Saturday on the Kilpatrick Turnpike in Oklahoma City. Authorities say Fraire was driving a Ford Mustang and the troopers radar clocked the car at 176 mph and then 208 mph.
Authorities say the driver attempted to elude the state trooper, turning off his headlights and brake lights at one point.
Fraire was eventually pulled over at a red light. The highway patrol says the driver stopped his car and dropped his keys out of the window.
The highway patrol says the driver was arrested on complaints of reckless driving and felony eluding.
208 and not in a Porsche? Hoax?
Like to see what he had under the hood.
.... Bet it was clocked at KPH and not MPH. That’s way to fast for standard stock vehicle.
What is the company’s name down in TX that makes souped up mustangs?.....Hemmings?
Aerodynamics of a Mustang wouldn’t be optimal for that speed.
I bet it isn’t stock. And they use the term “Ford Mustang” for every version of the vehicle.
KPH would still translate to well over 100MPH which sounds more reasonable.
Who caught him?
More likely to see Roush Mustangs and that company is based in Michigan.
I’ve owned several Mustangs but am not aware of any stock Mustang that can even get close to 208mph
Well if Slow Joe Bidet can get 160mph out of a stock ‘64 Corvette then I guess jose can get 208mph out of a Mustang.
(heavy on the /sarc)
Roush maybe?
I’m betting it’s not a hoax. I own a stock 2015 GT. I’ve been driving 50 years, all kinds of vehicles, and this thing lays power to the wheels like there’s no tomorrow. Flip the switch to “Sport” or “Track”, and it can get scary real quick.
435 Hp with no tweaks, 165 is the “book” top speed. I know some guys who report over 185. There is a bolt-on supercharger that gets it over 700 Hp. I have no doubt that would get you over 200 mph.
About 140 mph
Must be one of those Roush Stage 3 Mustangs. Friend of ours bought one. 600 some odd HP IIRC
“turning off his headlights and brake lights at one point”
I’m sure they mean tail lights and not brake lights...but don’t reporters know anything anymore?
