Why Obamacare Will NOT Be Repealed Anytime Soon
Self | 11/11/16 | fwdude

Since the campaigns are over and electioneering can cease, let's take a realistic look as the lay of the land and understand what is likely to occur under Trump's administration and what is not likely.

Indeed, Obamacare repeal legislation has been floated numerous times by the Republican House over the past several years, only to find an unwilling Senate or Executive roadblock to kill all possibility. I contend that we are in a similar situation now.

A perilously bare "R" majority in the senate will be the death knell for any repeal for at least the next two years. Democrats will form a monolithic bloc of opposition to any repeal, and the remaining RINO's will insist on meaningless tweaking of the current law before they'll sign their names to any legislation, but won't go for an outright repeal. So, the senate remains a roadblock.

If I'm missing anything in this analysis, let me know. I'm just a realist who doesn't see a way forward, especially with the raw hatred of the left aimed straight at America.

Budget reconciliation is how it passed.
Budget reconciliation is how it will be repealed.

Kill the filibuster, budget reconciliation.

Find a way to get it done, or go home.

We are not interest in their excuses.

Wield the power we gave them, or lose it.

I have heard the term, but please explain “budget reconciliation” for me and any other uninformed readers. I hope you’re right!

You may be right, unless McConnell has the guts to use Reid’s tactics against the Dhimmicraps. Since they passed 0bamacare on reconciliation (bypassing the filibuster), we can repeal it on reconciliation — if Ditch has the guts to do it.

Otherwise, it’s likely that the GOP majority will increase after 2018, as there are 24 Dhimmicrap seats up and 10 Republican seats.

Lots of Democrat senators up for reelection in 2018. I’m guessing they might be more cooperative than you think.

Yes, thanks for bringing that up. RINO McConnell will be a worse enemy than any democrat.

He said day one, so I doubt his first act will be to break his promise.

If not done by 2018 Trump will be primaried by others saying they can “Repeal Obamcare” even though their allies are probably stopping Trump from repealing it

That's my point. Not in the next 2 years, but perhaps after.

That's two years too long for me.

Trump, no matter what his power and support, still needs the help of the legislature, if he is to be a constitutional president, unlike Obama. And the legislature will be the sticking point.

I understand and appreciate your enthusiasm, but reality's knock has to be answered eventually.

The only way is to repeal it period, with the nuclear option (no 60 vote cloture requirement).

If they want to “replace” it, do it separately.

Flat out repealing it will eliminate the hub-bub over how to replace it that you mention.

But McConnell won’t go for it. Trump is going to have to beat him up.

If the current group wanted to repeal it they could have as outlined above. The “replace” is a diversion. Adding that ensures it never changes.
