We might have sunk the Bismarck in 1941, but didn’t Johnny Horton release this song in 1960?

Song was out in 1960, not 1941. The ship sank in ‘41. Can you get the mods to change that headline date?

Would you please correct the headline for me, and change the year to 1960? Thank you.

We filled his head with cannon ball and powdered his behind and when we touched that powder off that gator lost his mind!”

No matter what they say.
For when we saw the German ship,
We sailed the other way."

That song became popular back in 1961 when the movie SINK THE BISMARK! was released. Still a great movie!

The original tune was to a diddy about John Paul Jones. I remember my dad singing it back in the 1950s.

Heck! Now I will have to pull out my DVD and watch it!

Ever see the movie TITANIC!, the 1943 German version! Great movie with very little nazi propaganda. What makes it good is Leonardo DiCaprio was NOT in it!

Sink the Bismarck is okay, but I prefer other Horton tunes, like Whispering Pines, North to Alaska, and especially, I’m Ready If You’re Willing.

When I was a kid we had a little black dachshund named Bismarck when the song came out. He would go nuts running all over the house every time it played on the radio back then. Miss that little dog, he was a loyal and loving friend.
