A runaway highland cow caused traffic headaches for commuters in a British town by taking a stroll through the streets.

Witnesses said the 5-foot-tall highland cow, named Rica, escaped from her field Monday morning and ran through the streets of Dorking, England, causing major delays for commuters on the A24 highway.

Police responded to the incident and found Rica grazing on grass in a resident's front garden.

The officers used a police car and a board to barricade Rica in the garden until her owner could retrieve the hairy bovine.

"The cow looked completely unperturbed to be honest," neighbor Amanda Collins, 49, told Get Surrey. "It was quite docile and was just eating the grass in the garden."

"They told me that it jumped up on one of the cars in the close a bit earlier and scratched one of them but it was completely calm by the time I saw it," she said.

Surrey Police tweeted a photo of the cow grazing calmly in the garden while waiting for her owner.

"HIGHLAND COW! It's a good 'moo-ning' for cow found A24 Holmwood Road #Dorking now happily in a garden - she's being reunited with owner :)" police wrote on Twitter.
