Its no secret that HBO wanted Westworld to be their next Game of Thrones, given their relentless work on hyping it up in the months leading up to its premiere. It could have been a hard sell. Its a sci-fi/western mash-up loosely based on a little known but critically acclaimed Michael Crichton film (an original one at that and one of a handful of directorial credits for the bestselling novelist). Its heady premise a futuristic, Wild West-styled theme park featuring lifelike synthetic hosts slowly becoming sentient could have fallen flat. With an incredibly talented cast featuring the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, and Evan Rachel Wood and Jonathan Nolan writer of The Dark Knight, Interstellar and The Prestige steering the ship behind the scenes, however, Westworld has a lot going for it. If you havent yet caught the train to Westworld, were only at mid-season and theres still plenty of time to jump on. Here are a few reasons why you should.

So far I've enjoyed the slow roll-out of the story with what seems to be an impressively deep main plot and some really top notch acting. And the creators have embraced the original movie and built off it sprinkling in Easter Eggs for the sharp eyed fans of the earlier movies.
The above is a screen grab from last night's episode. Wherein Bernard (the man on the right) must go down to Restricted Level B82 to do some research. As Bernard walks through the long abandoned area he passes the figure on the left.
There is no doubt in my mind who that shadowy figure that Bernard walks past is supposed to be.
Be warned if you do watch Westworld the series there are many nude scenes but for me the acting and story are well worth the time.
If people don’t like “nude scenes” that’s cool, but most of them feature people (synths/robots) sitting inanimate. There are considerably fewer HBO-esque sex scenes than in other shows.
Still if you don’t like any nudity this might not be the show for you.
Its actually quite good. Easier to remember the characters at least.
I am waiting for them to roll out Lynch and Comey synths. so they can be repeatedly shot, hung , drawn and quartered while become re-educated to be conservatives.
And of course Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris and Jeffrey Wright nail every performance.
Saw one eposode and i’m hooked.
I often wonder just what the world outside of Westworld is, how far off in the future, i even thought at first it was on another planet. And now i wonder whats the endgame here, a robotic Jurassic Park? Kinda looks that way. Or a prequel of Blade Runner?
This is one of the few shows I actually watch on TV... Love it. Was surprised by how many good actors are in it, and the storyline is interesting, only on ep 2.
Westworld reminds me of Bangkok. Live out your craziest fantasies. The women behind the windows are the the synths. Sometimes, they wave up and kill the Aussie.
The acting is great, but I’m finding the storyline to be a bit of a slog.
