Is this the one where he chopped up the helipad after the Kennedys told him to get lost after the election?

No...that was his main home.

The helipad is still intact on this property!

It was built in 1967 so I doubt it

IIRC, JFK had made plans to stay at Sinatra’s home for a weekend, circa 1962-63. Sinatra had made some improvements to his property in anticipation of this event, including the installation of a heliport.

However, JFK’s brother Bobby, who was the AG, nixed the plan because of Sinatra’s mob ties and instead decided that the President should stay at the home of Bing Crosby, a Republican.

It was left to Rat Pack member Peter Lawford, who was then married to a Kennedy sister, to break the news to Sinatra.

Sinatra didn’t take it well. Not only did he destroy the heliport, he also excommunicated Lawford from the Rat Pack because of Lawford’s inability to convince the Kennedys to stay with Sinatra.

Lawford had originally been cast as Alan A. Dale in Sinatra’s upcoming film, “Robin and the 7 Hoods.” Sinatra pulled Lawford from the cast, had the part rewritten for a singer, and replaced Lawford with Bing Crosby.
