Steves was in Massachusetts last pushing for the recreational use marijuana referendum.

Pot head too. Probably spent too much time smoking joints and broiled his brains.

I visit Sicily on occasion to see my husband’s family. Sicilians are wildly anti-American as well as Jew haters (their walls are often filled with anti-Semitic junk). And, yes, Rick Steves, despite his oily Mr. Rogers persona, is another leftist. After all, he managed to get into Iran to promote it as a peaceful place filled with fun lovers.

Agreed. However that is why they control American public opinion; i.e. they spent years infiltrating all important institutions such as media, churches, academia etc.

I’ve always thought he was gay; just like Ken Burns is gay and my next door neighbor is gay. Married gay men are the worst.

Of course, you’re telling the truth. My brother just got back from a vacation in Italy and noticed the constant anti-American crap. Your friend needs to write a serious letter to Steves. That should never have happened.

I had to look up to see what YELP was. Frankly, when I have a complaint about a product or service, I complain directly to the company I did business with. If they don’t respond, or you don’t get the result you want, then you can bad mouth them on other forums. There’s no sense in complaining if you’re not going to alert the company of something you found offensive. You never know, they might have had other complaints about the same person or thing. They can’t do anything about it if they don’t know what occurred.

Yeah. Most contemporary Italians are a bunch of rotten commie sell-outs who hate America like so many of those western European creeps. I think the only ones over there who are worth anything are the Brits. My ancestors came over here overt 100 years ago. Different world back then.

There is some truth in your statement that allied soldiers raped women in war torn countries during WWII. Just before his discharge my Dad was ordered to watch American soldiers that were criminal and told to shoot them if they crossed a certain marked line. From what Dad said these prisoners had a bulls eye painted on the back of their shirts.

He complained directly to Rick Steves - no response.

We always use Rick Steves’ recommendations, his packs, etc. Great good ideas. I probably wouldn’t go on a tour with his org, because everyone in Seattle is a leftie and he comes across like that. But then, I don’t do tours. I think his guide books are the best. The guide sounds like an ass. Your friend should report him to Rick Steves - I bet the part that’s a lie is ‘Rick Steves told me to do this.’

He still needs to write to him. And to threaten to tell the story on social media. What would it take for Steves to get a new tour guide? Italy is full of them!

You’d be surprised how Yelp and Chowhound promote or hurt restaurants. I always check Yelp when I’m using a new service. I agree the person should directly appeal to Steve’s organization.

There wasn’t anything gay in it, so far as I recall. I think Steves was married with kids 25 years ago. It was just a travel book.

We're talking Catania here. I've never yet met an Italian or Sicilian tour guide who accepted (in the old days) lira over dollars. You had to pay in dollars or no tour. Today, in Sicily, just to visit a temple, you have to pay baksheesh to “minders” in the car lot. They carry clubs. Sicily is corrupt! Beautiful, some very nice people, great food, but totally corrupt.

Almost as corrupt as Washington, DC.
