Marvel Studios' "Doctor Strange" is expected to draw a massive audience this weekend, providing some much needed medicine for Hollywood during a bruising fall box office season.

Analysts expect the visually stylish Benedict Cumberbatch comic book movie to collect $65 million to $75 million in ticket sales from the United States and Canada through Sunday. Some more optimistic industry observers predict the film, about a former neurosurgeon who harnesses mystical powers, may reach $80 million in domestic grosses...

"Doctor Strange is a C-level Marvel character, and the fact that you can pull an $80-million debut is ludicrous when you think about it." ...

The Accountant with Ben Affleck was much better than Reacher, in my opinion.

Get one of the old comic book movies. The new ones are crummy.

I used to work with a guy named Dr Robert Strange. He was a Sociologist I think. He got a kick from the comic books

Are you talking about the second film, “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back”?

I remember that 70s cheesy tv Dr. Strange movie. Doubt I will see the new one.

Benedict is very good as Holmes. I can’t see him as a superhero type.

The last movie I saw was Carnival Of Souls last night. It was a Rifftracks event.

First Reacher was great. Second one sucked. I’m going to see Dr. Strange Friday. Can’t wait.

Dr Strange is not a C level character. He’s the Sorceror Supreme for goodness sake.

If the movie doesn’t take in $100 million opening weekend, if will be a disappointment.

I’ve seen all the movies of the MCU so far, and liked most of them. Ant-Man was a bit of a disappointment and I can’t say I’m excited about Dr Strange. They turned the Ancient One into a woman and made Baron Mordo black. That’s enough to make me want to wait until I can watch it on TV.

I saw it on Sunday as part of a special event. It is an incredibly visual movie, and I highly recommend getting as close as you can stand to the screen (and get to the biggest 3d showing you can find.)

I think this is going to explode as soon as people who see the ‘midnight showings’ start talking on social media. Disney/Marvel hit it out of the park with this film.

The cartoon version that was in a few Justice League episodes was good.

Not big on the superhero genre but I liked those cartoons. Ditto Batman and Superman TAS.

Who plays Dr. Strange? Tim Kaine? That would be believable.

No way was Dr Strange in a Justice League cartoon. He’s Marvel, Justice League is DC. Could have been Dr Fate you saw...

"Doctor Strange is a C-level Marvel character...

All of the characters are what you make of them, whether writing for comics or movies.

Frank Miller did a lot with a "2nd stringer" character named Daredevil in the 80s. Alan Moore did as well with DC's Swamp Thing.

The Guardians of the Galaxy comic characters didn't have much of a following (Jim Starlin's 70s and 80s work was more focused on Captain Marvel and others) but the movie sold well and was more entertaining than the new Star Wars (both films being knock off of the original Star Wars).
