What about Don McLean’s “American Pie”? If for no other reason, the amount it gets played on the classic rock station (CHEZ 106) up in my parts, lol.

There are a hell of a lot worse songs than that that have come and gone over the years. That was actually pretty good, IMO, as was damn near was everything back then, at least when compared to the absolute garbage that has come out since that approximate time.

American Pie is all about my youth. I guess not everybody gets it, but that's OK.

As a kid (12) I used to go to the Hobo camps in Redding CA by the railroad tracks. My cousins and I would sit by the fire and listen to their stories and just talk to them. Don't remember any booze but after 30 minutes or so we would ask them for money because we wanted to go play pool. They always gave us something. It was a different America then and the song sort of captures it for me.
