IMO, “Una Paloma Blanca” is the worst song of all time. I actually found the pic of me as a child (3-4 years old) nearly seizuring while that garbage was being played. Not joking.

“All Things Must Pass”? Wow... That is good.

“Imagine”. I actually think it’s a sad song, especially considering what happened to John Lennon.

No need to apologize, I honestly took no offense, just being silly.

You are right about Neil Young and Southern Man, what a self-righteous jerk!

When the sun shines on the mountain
And the night is on the run
It’s a new day
It’s a new way
And I fly up to the sun

I can feel the morning sunlight
I can smell the new-mown hay
I can hear God’s voice is calling
For my golden sky light way

Una paloma blanca
I’m just a bird in the sky
Una paloma blanca
Over the mountains I fly
No one can take my freedom away

Once I had my share of losing
for they locked me on a chain
Yes they tried to break my power
oh I still can feel the pain

Una paloma blanca
I’m just a bird in the sky
Una paloma blanca
Over the mountains I fly
No one can take my freedom away

Imma play this for you on Election Night. ;-D

My mom hates it’s for the line “Imagine there is no Heaven”.

There is a difference between a bad song and a song that is fair or good or even great but is just way overplayed. “Stairway to Heaven” is a masterpiece but I might turn the dial if I’m not in the mood having heard it hundreds of times (but I doubt I would do so just prior to or during the guitar solo).

“Imagine” is a bad song that is way overrated AND way overplayed. I never liked it and I must confess I liked some pretty bad songs when I was younger. But two other songs that have always annoyed me are Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” and “Beds are Burning” by Midnight Oil.

I am not a Billy Joel fan at all but I give him credit for turning me on to jazz. He had a song in the late 70s called “Zanzibar” that had two brief but spine-tingling trumpet solos. The trumpeter (the late great Freddie Hubbard) was credited on the album. I ran out and bought a couple of his albums and that set me on a journey of discovery that led to Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie and so on.

That’s fine. I’ll have my firearms and sharp metal objects locked up and the keys hidden.

That foes add a Communistic bend to the song, doesn’t it?

RE Worst Song:

It’s gotta be “One Ton Tomato”... :^)

Think about it, and tell me when you figure it out... Heheh... One of THE most mis-heard lyrics of all time.

RE Imagine:

Well, Lennon wasn’t a real religious guy, so it’s not a surprise he’d write that.

RE All Things Must Pass:

It’s a beautiful album. Harrison was an incredible songwriter and gifted musician. The McCartney-Lennon team just overshadowed him, IMHO.

There’s a song on Abbey Road called “Something” that Harrison wrote. To my mind, it is one of THE all-time most amazing love songs ever written.

He just had a way with words and music.

Most of these songs are just overplayed, and therefore hated by some people.

Also, pop music isn't meant to be taken that seriously.

If you really ponder a song long enough, you might well come to hate it.

You come to hate that hook that made it so catchy at first, and the lyrics start sounding cliched or too clever and manipulative -- which they always were.

It's surprising, though, that Huey Lewis or the Captain and Tennille, America or the Knack aren't somewhere on the list.

He was 100% the underrated Beatle. I remember my Mom getting weepy when he died. I was bummed out.

If you don’t have it, I recommend getting the 2 CD set “George Harrison In Japan”. He still sounded great in the late 90s/very early 00s.
