Its no secret that the Soviet army was badly prepared to fight Finnish forces in late 1939 and early 1940, during the brief, bloody and for the Soviets catastrophic Russo-Finnish Winter War. One particularly ill-conceived weapon underscores just how unready the Soviets were. The armored sled. In essence, a pair of overburdened skis supporting an entirely-too-heavy metal shield that Soviet commanders hoped would help protect hapless infantry in the absence of tank and artillery support. The sled failed. Worse, it actually got a lot of young Soviet troopers needlessly killed.

One of Your Buds ?
Stalin killing off his best generals got a lot of Soviet soldiers killed.
Yeah - High school NE Ohio. A lot of the HS around here have at least 1 or 2 girls on them. Obviously not a top tier team - those guys go out and recruit players in clubs, but they did win their first in sectionals last year for the first time in years.
She got kinda lucky because the team was really needing players her freshman year and she could skate a little from our time in Wisconsin. So 1/2 the team were freshmen and couldn’t skate that year. Just for gutting it out they lettered everyone that year.
So here she is a senior now with 3 letters looking at her fourth season and 1/2 the team are seniors. That first year there was a senior and junior girl that really helped, last year she was the only one. Looks like at least 2 girls joining as freshmen this year.
Lost our goalie though so we won’t do as well this year as last most likely. She plays defense...but is way undersize for the position, but that’s what she wanted to do....her positioning and understanding are top notch, but she doesn’t have the speed or size barely 5’5” and 115lbs... plus she needs to keep her head up (taken at least 2 big hits due to that).
Sorry for the long novel - proud papa and all :)
