Some of the most dangerous jobs (roofer, lumberjack, commercial fisherman) are nearly all male, and don’t pay particularly well.
Those jobs don't pay that well from the viewpoint of a middle class professional, but I'm guessing they pay a lot better than anything the guys would otherwise do.
