It’s once again Halloween at the Baxter house, and Last Man Standing presented a really effective, fun way to celebrate the pagan holiday. I really enjoyed watching all the promos get released for this week’s episode, and as a fan, I was not disappointed.

This week on Last Man Standing: Mike is tired of having Halloween parties, so he devises a plan to make this the final year: Everyone should dress as each other, and watch the arguments unravel the holiday. Vanessa gets some bad news related to the teachers strike. Mike and Chuck end up choosing the same costume.

First of all, I find it quite amusing/scary how much I relate to Mike

"Pagan"?

It is widely believed that many Halloween traditions originated in the Celtic harvest festivals which may have pagan roots, particularly the Gaelic festival Samhain, and that this festival was Christianized as Halloween. Some academics, however, support the view that Halloween began independently as a solely Christian holiday.

Well as it is currently celebrated it is definitely not Christian. It is all about death, darkness, monsters, and generally everything evil.

Pope’s fault.

Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints and martyrs; the holiday, All Saints’ Day, incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain.

The word “Halloween” is a contraction of “All Hallow Eve”, meaning that it is the night before All Hallow Day, or All Saint’s Day. The celebration of Halloween was originally intended to drive away evil spirits.

Some Christians want to avoid Halloween because it presumably has pagan origins. However, so do Christmas and Easter.

Halloween is an American tradition that creates happy memories for kids.

The kids just know they get to dress up, have fun with their friends and family, and get candy. They don’t think about pagan or Christian or anything other than Halloween.

I don’t understand anyone’s need or desire to turn it into anything other than that.

Though I do understand the left’s attempts at besmirching and otherwise trying to end American family traditions.

Thanks. We found out that we can back up and see it on our dish. I just watched it. The two young daughters looked so much alike I kept getting confused.

I am glad you enjoyed it. I like how they brought everything together at the end. Despite all the tensions they truly loved and supported one another.
