I have several dozen Jigsaw plants, and they are loaded with peppers. Yum.

Probably didn’t do the ol’ rectum any good on the way out, either.

Guy was diagnosed with AIDS and his Dr told him to go home and put all the pepper, peppers, beans etc in a blender and drink it.
“Will this cure AIDS?”
“NO!! but it will give you an idea of what your Ahole is for”.

Wrong.
Severe vomiting, triggered by the pepper, caused a tear in the esophagus.
That can leak food and saliva into the mediastinum and cause a life threatening infection.

You’re correct, by definition Boerghaave syndrome is an esophageal tear that results from vomiting.

Could that same response be triggered by news photos of "President Hillary"?

She must step down now for the sake of the nation.

Capsicum just stimulates nerve endings. It does not damage flesh. Complete Bullshirt story.

I understood from the story that the violent vomiting caused the tear in his esophagus.

An indirect cause. He wouldn't have vomited (and torn his esophagus) if he hadn't eaten the ghost pepper.

But then, the headline "Vomiting Puts Hole in Man's Esophagus" maybe wouldn't have drawn as much attention? :-)

Happened to me once. There's a great little wing place called Cluck-U Chicken. Their hottest wings are called "911 wings". They make you sign a waiver to order them. Holy moly! My Son-in-Law and I ordered a couple dozen once. Painful going in, and out the next day, if you know what I mean...

reading more then the headline would produce the cause of the tear: vomiting

I had some ghost pepper salsa one time. Very tasty and surprisingly not as hot as I expected. The flavor from these peppers is very good.

After that, however, I tried some ghost pepper hot sauce. Man, that hurt. Good thing I had a bottle of water in hand.

Yeah I meant 10x hotter than my birds eye... They are supposed to be 100,000 to 225,000 according to the chart somebody linked earlier... I am guessing that is about the actual range of mine, between the mildest and hottest, seems like there is that much difference in them, sometime 1 seems like I put 3 in there...

Pretty bland cooking in those links, IMHO. My problem is using the mega-hot varieties, the stuff way above Habaneros. Jalapenos are like any green vegetable, I use them instead of bell peppers.

We do have a favorite hot recipe called Smokey Scallops made with Tequila and habaneros. Tried doing it with Ghost peppers once and the wife could barely eat it. It was exquisitely hot. With habaneros, just spicy.

Either you wife truly loves you,
..or she is your beneficiary
in both cases, it's a win-win ! Congratulations !
