A Florida man whose pet cobra escaped into neighborhood can no longer keep venomous snakes but his wife still can.
Cobras as pets in Florida. What could go wrong?
There is no valid reason to keep potentially invasive animals, especially dangerous animals as pets. PERIOD.
You would think a good vet could remove the poison glands and just feed it pinky mice or something similar.
I’m sure a snake can have its reproductive system removed by a vet, and de-poison/de-fang it too.

Brazen Serpents.
God is awesome.
There is no way to de-poison a snake.
People keep rattlesnakes. It may not be the smartest choice, but I don’t think there’s much difference between this and keeping a dangerous dog breed like a pit bull (which are also common in Florida). In fact the. Pit bulls are probably more dangerous since people are very neglectful and let them roam around.
And speaking of that
BOOM! Snake is dead...
My grandmother killed her last rattler in her flowerbed at age 96. She was a tough old farm woman. You never had to read her a script about what to do with a rattler. She killed them all, it was an instinct.
His neighbors need to counsel him.
One of my earliest memories is the memory of seeing my mother take a shovel and kill a rattlesnake in the middle of our living room floor. You have to keep your doors closed at all times in southern New Mexico to keep the rattlesnakes and wetbacks out, and, of course, I got blamed for leaving the front door open.
Beautiful country.
Never saw a rattler there. But they have them.
We killed them often here in TX where I grew up. Family has farmed here since 1889.
As the families moved from the farms to town, the wildlife (including rattlers) re-inhabited the pastures.
We are in the process of remodeling my grandparents home at the farm. Must move back to prevent the theft that has become so prevalent since the oil price collapse. They are outsiders and recent groups that have moved in with the oil boom, now bust has given them an excuse to steal from the locals. Some of them have found it is a dangerous place to steal things. Lead follows in some cases.
Your description made me think of Ruidoso, NM. It doesn't get more beautiful than the Ruidoso mountains.
It seems way too often people don’t understand the difference between venom and poison. Snakes are venomous, not poisonous.
That was my point.
I was talking about cutting the snakes head off as a solution.
That’s ok!
