It will be a team of destiny facing a team of density, the Dodgers having packed their roster so thickly with heroes that a closer was hiding in their starting rotation.
The Dodgers used every bit of that and more Thursday night a closer pitching in the seventh inning, tag-team starting pitchers, backup catchers pinch-running and pinch-hitting and finally turned to Clayton Kershaw to close it out after Manager Dave Roberts said he would absolutely not do that, not even for one batter.
They somehow managed to both come-from-behind and hold on for their dear lives, beating the Washington Nationals, 4-3, in Game 5 of their National League Division Series.
The Dodgers advance to the NLCS for the second time in the past four years and fourth time in the past nine. This time, they will face the Chicago Cubs starting Saturday night at Wrigley Field.

If the Cubs win the world series and Donald J. Trump is elected president that first week of November, we’ll know God has given us another chance.

I wonder how of the players know where “pulling out all the stops” came from.
They did in one of their World Series (2014 maybe?) He got a save in that game.
Right. I wasn’t sure in that game in 2014 if Bumgarner had pitched the day before or not.
The Cubs are to 2016 as the Red Soxs are to 2004, ready to end a very long World Series dry spell.
..and hopefully not turn into obnoxious asses like Sawx fans.
I cant believe I missed it! Any suggestions how to see a replay?
Yes Maeda. Worst part of the game 5 is that the Dodger rotation is out of whack, Kershaw probably won't pitch until game three. They may well be down 0-2 at that point. Hill went less than three innings yesterday, Urias went two. One of them probably will go Sunday. It will be a Herculean effort to beat the Cubs.
I really think Pederson's HR changed the game and he did a GREAT job of firing up the Dodgers, even bumpin' the manager Dave Roberts who did a great job strategically.
Jansen was great, then Kershaw 'had his back' and murdered the Nationals from the mound to finish them off. Toles/Seager combo throw to home to get Werth out really deflated the Nationals.
If Mattingly were still Manager, Dodgers would've lost this game.
this can now be the NLCS and ALCS thread.
Go INdians
Go Cubs
don’t forget, watch it for free online.
I’m thinking Ross Stripling or Brock Stewart will get the call on game 2. They will need to add Stewart to the roster today if that’s going to happen.
108 is enough
Well, the Dodgers do have a live organ.
Well, I get those channels the games are on so....
WE KNOW.
but that reminder was for others
I was asleep by 2nd inning. awoke at 130ET to discover the Kluber masterpiece.
Out at the plate!
