Thanks pro. Plan for worse hope for best knowing what will happen is not in my hands. Funny spoke to a minister friend about preparations and he misunderstood what I was saying. To the question where did I think the storm would end up I said hopefully out to sea adding a Picard like “make it so”. He thought I was immitating Moses parting the Red Sea and said if I were in management and not sales I would take care of it!

The Glock 19 is a fine weapon. I don’t own one, but I have several friends who do.

THe Kimber is an excellent piece, and so is the Sig Sauer.

I like the 1911 frame and the overall hand feel, even if it is a little heavy. I have often wondered what it would feel like in other metals. I see where UA Arms has them in aluminum and titanium, but have never tried them.

She started out carrying a Beretta 92FS,changed over to a HK USP,and then got a Beretta PX4 in .45.She was worried that a 9mm wasn’t enough gun.

Missed that but the Springfield XDS and Smith & Wesson Shield in .45 ACP are really concealable.

It’s a Sig X Five Allround, extremely accurate. Weighs 45 ounces. Too heavy for most Glock guys.

I like the 40 ounce weight in a 1911 for range enjoyment. For carry, I go with my HK P2000.

I’ve shot a couple of Glock 19’s, the guy I shoot with on Sundays is a retired Marine Colonel, he’s a revolver guy, but he has one, shoots nice.
I can shoot whatever I might find. I’m even reasonably accurate with commie guns like the Tokarev and Makarov.

I wasn’t making any comment on what the Marines should choose, just my own preference.

My personal preference for CC is a Taurus Model 22 loaded with CCI Stingers.

Easy, repeatable shots with zero recoil. Empty the magazine if necessary.

I put a chunk of ruined bicycle tube around the grip on my Mod 30 glock. $0 bucks

I have probably put 6000 rounds through a Glock 30 .45. 0 failures, in other words, it is the AK47 of handguns. I have also put in the neighborhood of 40-50000 through various 1911 style autos, most through Ed Brown customized Series 70;s. If I were shooting a speed event, which I’ve done a lot of, I’d take the 1911, my CCW gun is the Glock, that’s all you need to know! I regularly practice with empty shotgun shells at 10 yards with my Glock, it is a great firearm, and dead nuts reliable, no fooling with recoil springs, throating barrels, etc. pull the trigger and it goes bang over and over.

Mrs. L begs to differ. She owns 2 Kimber 1911s and she has no problem with them at all.

I have smaller hands and the Glock ergonomics have never seemed to fit me right. I have a much easier time with single stacked pistols.

My current is the H&K P7M8 which is great to shoot but definitely heavy, at 28oz w/o magazine. I’m thinking of getting some nice wood grips for it and keeping it for special occasions.

I have enjoyed the Walther P99 series pistols. The grip just feels great in my hand. I’ve love to try a H&K P30 or VP9 for comparison.

It doesn't require walking in front of machine gun fire to understand the ergonomic shortcomings the Glock design poses for me in particular (not that I said "me in particular". I'm sure they work fine for some people).

The two are not related.

I have weird hands. Compared to the average my hands are significantly shorter from palm to finger tip and significantly wider in the palm than the national average (yes, I've actually measured them). That poses some difficulties for me finding semi auto pistols that fit.

Revolvers are easier because you can put any shape grip on them you want. You can make your own even if you're serious enough about it, but semi auto pistol grips have to conform to the magazine well.

Glocks might as well have been designed as torture devices for me personally. I can shoot the 17 better than the 19, but the 17 is more painful. That Glock "hump" aggravates a nerve in the bottom of my palm that induces some muscle spasms after about 100 rounds or so. The 19 doesn't do that but after 3 years of dry fire practice and range practice, I could never shoot better than passable groups (while at the same time consistently whacking a six inch steel plate at 50 yards with a 357 revolver). I never did reach a point where I could dry fire practice and keep the sights from moving.

Unfortunately, since these guns are designed to the person with average hands, finding a semi auto that works for me is very challenging. It really came down to the M&P, Sig, and VP9. VP9 wasn't easily available in my area. M&P felt nice, but still struggled with the "no sight movement" dry fire drill with it. So Sig it was. I went with the P320 subcompact because it felt the best. I've only shot it a little, groupings with it are not impressive at the moment. Then again, my expectations of a subcompact carry gun with a very short grip (which my bottom pinky hangs off of) are fairly modest. The sights are also off right out of the box, going to have to work out a way to adjust them. Also, the only ammo I've put through it thus far is Winchester White Box and while that stuff is reliable for making noise and sending a piece of lead downrange, I've never been impressed with it's accuracy or really anything else about it.

Eventually I'll get the full size P320 to go with the subcompact for range fun and winter carry.
