Texas isnt firing Charlie Strong, but it certainly isnt doing him any favors, according to a report that indicates he is very close to losing his job at the end of the season after consecutive losses to Cal and Oklahoma State.
A high-ranking official described Strongs status to SIs Pete Thamel, adding that his job is safe until the end of the season. Strong is in his third season as coach of the 2-2 Longhorns, who wrap up their schedule Nov. 25.

You can always go after Chan Gailey.....
I’ll take the Old Head Ball Coach back.
He’s dunfer......
Cameron has a history of trading personal connections for employment, and has never shown any talent or merit. I had season tickets to Indiana football while he was in Bloomington, and watched him basically waste four years of Antwaan Randle El, best college player who never played in a bowl game.
It’s definitely going to be interesting to see how they play on the road under Coach O.
RIght is a good coach and great for 10-3 and 9-4 seasons. UGA wanted to win the conference and chance and national title. Will not happen under Richt. He just does not have the passion to drive a team across the finish line. He had top five recruitmg classes for seven out of eight years and could win the conference once.
RIcht is also a wonderful human being and the reason was he not let go three years earlier. WIsh him the best in Miami.
Well maybe sometimes it does take a change of scenery. I think even Saban knows that, which is why he’s moved around as he has.
And it’s only a matter of time before Urban Meyer winds up in South Bend.
The funny thing is, Ed Orgeron fired Cam, not the administration.
I pretty much agree with your take on Richt. He was never able to “seal the deal.” It seemed like his teams never won that one game they had to win to have a great season. For a while I wondered whether he was a victim of unrealistic expectations or it was on the players, not him. For example, Stafford was the QB who would choke in a big game, and he’s the same way with the Lions. But after Stafford left, Richt’s GA teams still played the same way, so I decided it was coaching, not players.
Oh I’m not saying UGA is going to run him out of town, yet. Just that he isn’t quite ready for a job like UT yet.
All Kirby needed to do is remind his players to keep their frickin’ helmets on after scoring a TD, and he would have been the toast of the town right now.
A white dude would have been fired LAST year. IMO, the ONLY reason Charlie still has a job is: fear of the appearance of racism.
You can throw everything out for a rivalry game.
Stoops may be reaching that point at OU.
I said before this season that a bowl game would keep Charlie around one more year. I still believe that. But, losing to Ok St makes getting there substantially harder... as does, losing Foreman and Warren.
One question I have for you: Why is it, that our program has been so EPICALLY bad since the first airing of the LHN? Is that just coincidence? Or, is this damn TV network hurting us somehow?
Meanwhile A&M goes to the SEC and is flourishing.
Damn, you’re fussy Gator I thought Mc gave you a good 1st year, and it’s not like Tenn was a fluke
Bring back Spurrier!!
Even Muschamp won 11 games one year.
But I found out all I needed to know about Mac at last year’s game against FAU.
And he totally mishandled the whole Will Grier fiasco.
Would not be surprised in Meyer would up at South Bend. The question here in the SEC is who will eventually take ove at Alabama when Sabah leaves. That will be a pressure job!
His teams were dominant 10-12 years ago, and he won championships. But I’ve had the impression the last five years or more he’s been coasting. And is coasting slower....
