I was working as an usher in a theater when “Paint your Wagon” came out.

One of my all time favorites.

Only musical Clint Eastwood was in and sang.

Lee Marvin was a hoot.

What a great thread. Oh, how about Superman IV. Dog.

Superman IV is one of those dramatic movies that is so horribly awful that ends up being unintentionally good when viewed as a comedy. If I remember the story about it, after Superman II had been a big hit the studio had contracted with the actors and DC Comics for two more movies. The spent a fortune on Superman III (the Richard Pryor one) which ended up being a flop. They didn't really want to even make the fourth but for contractual reason they either had to or lose the rights to other DC Franchises. So the subcontracted it out to a small studio, hired a director with no experience and gave it virtually no budget. The special effects are comical, they were garbage even by mid-1980's standards and today they are flat out hilarious.

There was this futuristic movie I watched all the way through, mostly because I was unbelieving anything could be that bad and it was by some famous director and had good reviews.

There was basically only one man in the entire movie, and it seems that there were a lot of shots of his ear. There was absolutely no, none, nada action in the entire movie. The star of the movie was some man I didn’t recognize but when later I looked him up it was a somewhat recognizable name. He sort of wandered around a house as the camera occasionally zoomed in on his ear.

Anyone remember this movie? It was a hit about, oh, maybe 10 years ago..??

Beyond awful.

Thought of another one...Arthur II, the sequel to the first Dudley Moore version. Moore and Minnelli’s first go round was hilarious. “Where’s the rest of this moose? You must have HATED this moose!”

There’s a movie with Kurt Russell in it about outer space. There were a bunch of men fighting. This was not “Stargate.” Kurt Russell barely spoke.

I laughed my head off and made a number of enemies right there in the theater. Horrid movie.

I also laughed uproariously at “Nuns on the Run,” which is a wonderful film.

Superman may have been a flop at the time, but the plot inspired Office Space, lol.

You should see the 8 hour Russian version of WAR AND PEACE shown in the USA back in 1968. It went from boring to exciting (first part) to boring (second part) to WOW!(Third and 4th parts).
In the Henry Fonda version the battle of Borodino lasts about fifteen minutes,
In the Russian version, almost a full ninety minutes! Well worth it to watch! Watch for the scene where the French cavalry attacks the Russians, who swing out of the way and the French are met with a line of cannon fire.
Get the Russian Cinema Council version, not the Kultur chopped up version!

What was that boring movie?... something with a blue fairy or blue angel.

That was AI, for artificial Intelligence. I thought it was mean spirited and a real downer.

**Only musical Clint Eastwood was in and sang.**
Several LP records were released back then with him singing other songs.

“What a great thread. Oh, how about Superman IV. Dog.”

I don’t know if I ever saw that one, though it does ring a bell. I would generally watch a movie just for Margot Kidder.
