Deer tries to settle the score with driver who hit it
LOCAL ABC 10 ^ | 29 SEPTEMBER 2016 | DOUG CRISS - CNN

(CNN) - Guess deer don't believe in letting bygones be bygones.

A New Jersey woman was driving down a road, when -- bam! -- she hit a deer that had crossed her path. The deer took off -- or so she thought.

As the driver, Ellen Snyder, opened the door to check out the damage to her SUV, the deer suddenly charged back across the road towards her vehicle, pinning her inside.

Reminds me of that 1994 movie "Wolf" with Jack Nicholson. In the beginning, that lady hits a deer and he rises up and attacks her.

I’ll thank you not to tell a certain story regarding deer and cars.

;-)

Had a buddy tell me he killed a deer with a 350.
I told him isn’t that a big caliber rifle for a deer.
“No” he said “I was driving a Chevy PU with a 350 cubic inch engine”.

Growing up in Palo Pinto County Texas everyone even 16 year-old girls had a pistol in the glove bow of their vehicle. Most of the time boys in pick-ups had a shotgun mounted across the back window. The most common traffic accident there was a deer, cow or horse strike and you didn’t always kill the animal in the collision but you had to pull it out from under the vehicle and you didn’t want to leave a wounded animal on the side of the road. Carrying a fire arm was considered the polite and humane thing to do.

If you were stopped for a traffic violation you just told the officer that the pistol was in the glove box before getting the insurance card. If (s)he had an issue they’d ask you to step out of the vehicle and they’d open the glove box themselves.

I had a .38 revolver with about a 4 inch barrel in a holster. I never needed to use it.

Well.....

Here goes.

In a former life (early to mid-80s) I used to deliver newspapers as one means of earning money. Used to deliver 700+ daily newspapers by car.

The papers used to arrive at a drop point from the printing plant about 3 AM where we would pick them up and load them into our cars.

I was driving down the road about 3:30 one Saturday morning and saw this doe standing by the side of the road. I decided to be a smartass and, when I was right up on it, blew my car horn in one loud long blast. I did not hit the doe.

However, the doe spun around and kicked my passenger door near where the door hinges were located. I thought I must have hit the deer after all.

When it was light, I drove back to the spot where I had seen the doe. No deer. Later in the morning, I examined my car door and determined that the door had been caved in by the deer’s hoof to the point that I couldn’t open it.

Took a crow bar to get the damn thing open again.

That deer looks experienced in opening car doors. Must of been looking for a little dough or a member of Deer Lives Matter.
