This is a poorly written article by a fairly dumb reporter.
There really are dogs who can pick up the scent of a flash drive (not the presence of porn, but the presence of a binding agent used to make the flash drive). This is how they found stuff in Jared Fogle’s home.
The reporter is just dumb and doesn’t understand.
And it makes sense. People who want to hide or trade child pornography would be likely to use a flash drive.
This is police state stuff. The BS excuse that a dog sniffing at your car or luggage is not a “search” is that they would only “alert” on an illegal substance. This doesn’t achieve even that level of legal make-believe. If you have a thumb drive anywhere storing any data, now they can trash your house.

Same way the deep water knows to stay out of the shallow end of the pool.
Are those dogs happy if they aren’t near water?
I’ve never really had a dog of my own, but soon we’ll retire and are thinking about a breed.
LOL! One of my choices is a Collie; and the lab looks easier to take care of coat-wise...
Collie’s are sweet .... long hair, needs grooming.
Labs OTOH, shed all the time, no matter how much brushing one does.
You learn to have a wardrobe of black, dark carpets, if you have a black Lab; khaki clothes, tan carpets for a Yellow. Oh yes.
I knew a lady, a high-powered career type, who only had one rule when they were getting a dog for her child: it had to be black, because all of her business suits were black.
They got a black lab :-)
We had Blacks for so many years; when it was *time* to put our ancient Black Lab down, I told my boys to go out with their dad and find a *different* dog. Well they came home with two Yellows. ;D
Then we went through a long period of only Yellows. And now, we're back to Black.
Our BEST Lab ever was a mellow Yellow.
Yep, that looks like Max. What impressed me was his memory. The first time I met him, I scratched his butt. After that, even if I was away for many months, as soon as I entered the house he’d come to me and present his tail for a butt-scratch. Best tempered dog.
