Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources is pushing a prohibition on hunting “big game” with spears, as well as new regulations on the use of air guns to hunt deer.

Who hunts deer with an airgun?
Where I come from, deer is considered “big game” and can only be hunted with broadheads and bow/crossbow, shotgun, or centerfire rifle.
We are about six months away from wooden-sticks being outlawed in Maryland.
Here is a classic example of government gone wild and in need of being restrained. Otherwise, they’ll be taxing us for breathing too much.
They’ll pry the spear out of my cold, fossilized fingers.
Nerf guns stun deer who are then frozen forever unable to move. Nerf arrows are much more sporting. /s

There are some powerful enough to hunt buffalo. They tend to be very expensive and have large bores.

Even in the last few weeks someone posted about spear-hunting. Apparently enough back-to-basics nuts (some ultra conservative, some hippies) out there doing it to bring out the PETA in the government officials.
It'll only be a few. And besides, it's the very definition of "fair chase."
Yeah, I really don’t care. I love animals but we spend far too much time worrying about how our animals are treated. Far too much. It’s a good sign, but also wastes resources better used elsewhere, and the Moslems know it (the opposite of us, who couldn’t give a &$)’@$?). There’s a limit to how much we should roll over for various things.
Considering the infestation of deer I see in MD on I-70 between I-81 and I-68, machine guns should be mandatory.
