Trump’s interruptions of Clinton are familiar to women
Boston Globe ^ | Setember 27, 2016 | Carly Sitrin

Call it “mansplaining,” “bropropriating,” or “Kanye at the VMAs,” women are familiar with being interrupted by men when they speak.

So when Donald Trump repeatedly interrupted Hillary Clinton at Monday night’s debate — 51 times, according to Vox — it hit home for much of the audience.

Women have been interrupted by men in professional settings for decades. Whether it’s Kanye West cutting off Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards or an executive halted midsentence by her peer in a corporate meeting, studies have found that men are more likely to block women from talking entirely, to correct them, and to prevent them from using expletives.

Women can either carry it, or they can’t.

I.e. Margaret Thatcher.

Enough of this nonsense!

If Lester Holt was fact checking Hildabeast like he was Trump (even when Holt was wrong), maybe Trump would have let her lies pass.

It’s been my experience that men and women, generally, have different speaking styles, with most men preferring a back and forth with mutual interruptions of each other, while most women prefer taking turns having long uninterrupted mini-speeches on one or more topics.

In polite conversation, as opposed to a debate, men generally wait for a verbal period or comma, as signaled by a short pause, as a cue that interruption is okay at that point, whereas a woman waits for the verbal end of a paragraph or even a verbal “fin” as signaled not only by pause but also by some statement that appears to be either a conclusion or a question.

But the problem for "President" Hillary will be that most of the world's leaders are men. As president of the USA, Hillary won't be able to get a word in edgewise, as the other leaders will always be interrupting her.

We will have a "leader" that nobody respects.

“Oh good grief. If anything, it’s women who most commonly interrupt men, and don’t let them get their thoughts out.”

You have noticed that too.

Funny - women say, “Let me walk on you and you’re a sexist pig if you defend yourself”, Blacks say, “Let me rob and kick the crap out of you, and even shoot you, and you’re a racist pig if you defend yourself” - ironic....

I AM a woman. The verbal thing is something I have to work to control.

In fairness, though, there’s a reason for it: women are generally just more verbal than men are:

The question, if any, is not how many times Trump interrupted, but how many times each candidate was interrupted. In total.

Not just by each other, but by the moderator.
