In what has been described as one of the most bizarre strings of petty crimes ever recorded, dozens of people in Philadelphias Kensington neighborhood have been reporting the theft of their house numbers. Interestingly, in all cases, only the 1 and 0 have been taken, which has earned the yet-to-be-identified thieves the nickname binary bandits.
You might not notice whats missing from dozens of houses in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, but for those living there, it has been the main topic of discussion for the past two weeks. Someone is stealing the 1 and 0 from peoples house numbers and nobody seems to know why. There has been speculation about artists planing to use the numbers as part of an installation, or someone trying to send a message, but as for actual explanations, everyone, including the police, is drawing a blank.
One thing everyone can agree on is that the thefts have not occurred all at once. The binary bandits have been operating in the area for the last two weeks, hitting homes in the middle of the night and running away with the unusual loot under cover of darkness. Surveillance videos show the culprits casually walking up to peoples front doors, simply ripping the numbers out of the wall and casually walking away.

There are 10 types of people. Those who understand binary and those who do not.
Classic.

Those who don’t are going “Huh?”
Right. We understand it, not like the other 9 types. ;^)
Open and shut case...
We’ll never solve this until we know in what order they’re being stolen.
Totally agree. Yuuuuge fan of B5.
I guess no “U” day parties then.

WOW...things have really changed over the years. Back in the day you would lose a finger or a hand for messing with anything on a house in Kensington/Port Richmond.
We had a lot of front stoop theft in Souffooey: seasonal decorations from the door, mail left in between the screen door and the entry door, flowerpots, newspapers, you name it.
You seem to be wanting to show the permutations, which should be four: 00, 01, 10, 11.
The binary 10 has the decimal equivalent of 2.
They say to call 911 but that will be impossible with your 1’s missing.
No “Words?” We could use some more “shooters” like Mal Reynolds. I love that scene in the premier where he offs the cop and pitches him overboard. I almost got a reserve extended active duty teaching at a Navy range. My late father earned extra money when he was a kid shooting sparrow for bounty in rural Michigan. He said he got good because a .22 short cast a penny in those days (1920s) and the bounty was only five cents. I’ve had several nationally ranked Army types who hunted and shot with Dad say he would have ended WWII earlier if he hadn’t been tied to his job as foreman in the Grand Blanc tank plant! His best weapon was shotgun, a “snap shooter” for pheasant. I’m a poor imitation of him, sorry to say. Still, I could help with a handgun. Thank you for your humor. We need it in these times.
