Hope you enjoy. Nights In White Satin
BIG OOPS.
Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame is not what it seems. I don’t give it much legitimacy.
I usually am listening to talk radio, but during the commercials I switch over to fm just to wait them out. I can probably name all the playlists of every station.
This song is how I gauge the quality of a classic rock station. If they play the Soliloquy they are a good station.
“Breathe deep the gathering gloom...”
Did you get Mike’s & Julie’s autographs afterward?
We saw him a few months ago for the 4th time. I got his autograph last year. We saw the Moody Blues earlier this year for the 4th time & John gave me a thumbs up & tossed his guitar pick to me.
Holy cow, you scored on many counts!
Justin Haywood is known as a germ-a-phobe on tour, and seldom meets the public for fear of getting sick and cancelling his tour. His roadie told us that.
He is a musical genius, and I’m sad to say I don’t see anyone on the scene that comes close to having his talent.
Fifty+ years of performing -
Amazing!

EXCELLENT ALBUM.
WPLR New Haven used to play it on Halloween back in the day.
RE: “”Forever Autumn”
from Justin Heyward and “Jeff Wayne’s Version of War of the Worlds ... GREAT ALBUM!”
I want this song played at my funeral:
When You’re A Free Man
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9x3XER_I65U
Time... quickly passes by
If only we could talk again
Someday I know I’ll see you smiling
When you’re a free man again
High... on a mountain side
We laughed and talked of things to come
Someway I know I’ll see you shining
When we’re all free men again
Yup,
“Watch light fade from every room”...
MOODY BLUES LYRICS
“Late Lament”
Breathe deep the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
Another day’s useless energy spent.
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one,
Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son,
Senior citizens wish they were young.
Cold hearted orb that rules the night,
Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white.
But we decide which is right.
And which is an illusion?

Very fine tune.
Thank you for memories brought back.
Having said that, I am leaving in two weeks to travel to Arizona for my 50th high school reunion. As luck would have it, The Moody Blues are in their last night in concert at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas the first weekend I will be in Arizona. So I will take a side trip to Las Vegas with a high school friend to see them live for the first time since I started following them in 1966. I can hardly wait.
They have so many songs that are classics, it's hard to know where to start. But Nights In White Satin was written by Justin Hayward when he was 19 years old and it made him and the band famous. One of the few rock bands where you can actually understand the songs' lyrics. Beautiful merging of rock guitars and drums with classical orchestral pieces. They are truly one of a kind.
Thanks for posting this. But I have to say that I have been playing their albums non-stop for several months now, "prepping" for the concert and renewing my enjoyment of their music. I have probably listened to "Nights...." several dozen times this last summer. But it never gets old.
Graeme Edge, the drummer, and the only “original” member of the band still playing, does a fantastic job when he recites the Soliloquy.
Very glad you’re getting a chance to see Justin Haywood again, Live.
Here’s a bit more I found about their formation:
Early years, Decca Records 196466
The Moody Blues formed on 4 May 1964, in Erdington, Warwickshire near Birmingham.
Ray Thomas, a juvenile John Lodge and (occasionally) Mike Pinder had been members of El Riot & the Rebels.
They disbanded when Lodge, the youngest member, went to technical college and Pinder joined the army.
Pinder then rejoined Thomas to form the Krew Cats.
Back from a disappointing spell in the Hamburg region a few months later,[9] the pair recruited guitarist/vocalist Denny Laine, band manager-turned-drummer Graeme Edge and bassist Clint Warwick.
The five appeared as the Moody Blues for the first time in Birmingham in 1964.
The name developed from a hoped-for sponsorship from the M&B Brewery which failed to materialise, the band calling themselves both “The M Bs” and “The M B Five” and was also a subtle reference to the Duke Ellington song, “Mood Indigo”.[10]
