You can’t grill on balconies in NYC. The landlords’ insurance premiums would explode. Neighbors would complain about smoke and smells and more lawsuits would take place. Plus, if one explodes it’s not one home getting firebombed - it’s an entire building.

Now, if you move to Bk’lyn or Queens I have seen grills in the backyard gardens.

NYC is not for everyone and no one is forced to live here. If someone loves to grill on their deck, balcony or backyard, they need to live in the ‘burbs. That’s where my Weber grill resides.

A family member lived on the 2nd floor of three-story building which was starting to fill with “immigrants”. She sold out when the glowing remains of a charcoal grill fire poured past her window!

When I lived briefly in Bayside, Queens, the Greek family 3 doors down spit roasted their Paschal lamb in a home made 55 gal drum roaster on the tiny front lawn, 100 feet from LIRR station. Outstanding aroma.

No one complained, but there was a whole lot of salivating going on.
