We are staring into the abyss of a Trump presidency and many people are to blame [BOO HOO ALERT]
National Post ^ | Sept. 17, 2016 | Andrew Coyne

A month ago, Donald Trump stood seven points back of Hillary Clinton in the polls. State-by-state projections gave Clinton as much as two-thirds of the electoral college. Today, an average of recent surveys puts Trump just one point behind; the electoral college is similarly up for grabs.

What once seemed impossible — that Trump could win — is now a very real possibility: roughly two in five, according to the oddsmakers. We are staring into the abyss of a Trump presidency, and all that that would represent, for America and the world.

That it is even close is something of a calamity, a victory for all that is dark and barbaric in the American character. A narrow Trump loss — at this point the most likely result — would confirm his malign influence in Republican circles, opening the party to years of debilitating internal conflict. Perhaps Trumpism would not survive him; perhaps it would.

The election is still weeks away, of course, and much can happen between now and then. But it’s never too early to start laying blame.

Who should we fault for this disaster? Should we blame his enablers in the Republican party? But which ones? The aging opportunists like Newt Gingrich or Rudy Giuliani, who see in Trump their last chance at power and can’t be bothered to worry about what he represents? Or the equivocators, the odds-checkers, once-respected figures like Paul Ryan or Marco Rubio, who know that Trump is the death of everything they claim to care about but sign on anyway, though only after weeks of contemptible public agonizing — as if the choice were truly difficult? As if they were not weak men following their desires, but good men trying to do right? As if their eventual decision were ever in doubt?

We still need to get past the margin of fraud. It’s who counts the votes that matters.

Mass suicides of liberals and socialist ensue, sudden surge in free oxygen, peace and prosperity regained.

A fella can dream, can’t he?

The left always spouts about “trusting the American people”.

Not in this case I guess because they and the establishment are losing.

And to have the territory once known as “the United States of America” fall into the hands and control of the “deplorables” is a bad thing because...

I just do not see a downside. From where we are right now, there are only two options - remain in the doldrums, or move upward.

"Should we blame the excesses of identity politics, the obsession with racial and sexual differences to the exclusion of individual rights or common human values, the assertion that society is a zero-sum conflict between ceaselessly warring groups"

There is a good bet. It's the media's "fault".

Preach it! Trump MUST win by large enough margins in EVERY state to overcome the massive voter fraud the is and will be perpetrated by the DemocRATS.

I think it was on the dash of an ERA Replica Cobra circa fall of 94, @ Limerock, Vintage Weekend, the Brand being honored were Shelby's and yes Ole Shel was their walking around.

The plate said:

Get in Sit down Shut up and Hang on

Seriously, nothing against their political decent, but goal number one is turning the economy around and DJT is the guy to do it.

If they are too stooopid to see it or visit with their financial professional to get a handle on what to do with that scenario, that is their problem...

That's their mantra: lay blame early and often.
